Re: Is it really the rules or is it...

After Urban Bunny's comments about scoring I have been working on a new scoring system that rewards armies that have taken at least some cheaper troop types and encourages getting stuck in. Even having your army broken while causing a modicum of casualties will outscore a declared or bloodless draw....

Re: Is it really the rules or is it...

Final thought - though this might give the organisers an extra headache, how about simply getting people to put in their list, and after game 1 swapping armies around (top player gets bottom army for round 2). A real challenge! I have suggested this before but have gone a bit further saying you nev...

Re: Is it really the rules or is it...

I would like to try a couple of new formats which are variants of a format used for a series of Command Decision tournaments in Belfast over many years. Format A is closest to the original idea: A relatively few army lists (10-20) from a theme are prepared by the organiser. Each army list has a cadr...

Re: Warfare 2016 - 19/20 November - theme?

Izzy and I have submitted our lists. I have accepted Alasdair's challenge and gone mounted. Izzy is playing the first list she has designed top-to-bottom herself. It may look like other peoples but she had not seen anything else and designed it all on the coach en-route to Oxford. (Proud Father :D )...

Re: Oxford 25 mm Competition - 29th and 30th October 2016

why don't we go for 5 games anyway... ??? outcome wont affect me.. but it could be interesting overall as we will just about play everyone.... I would like the 5 game format very much and would be very happy to set-up a draw using the same principles as Tom laid out for the 6 person 5 game format. ...

Re: Oxford 25 mm Competition - 29th and 30th October 2016

Just a gentle word dear readers, On our way back from Britcon, Isabel mentioned to me that she felt that the long running joke about "playing a girl; if I lose I got beaten by a girl and if I win I beat up on a child" is wearing a bit thin. She is playing because she wants to and is still learning; ...

Re: Oxford 25 mm Competition - 29th and 30th October 2016

I was proposing to leave the flank sector at 12". We only need bigger tables to accommodate the larger armies. The Team Worlds at Derby are using 12" flank sectors on 6' x 4' tables but are only using 700 point armies. Bob Yep inches for Terrain, Threatened Flanks and deployment and 40mm MU for mov...

Re: Oxford 25 mm Competition - 29th and 30th October 2016

LF, bow in the rear rank of HF/MF under FOGAM .... What will be the POA effect in the comp please? Eg. Later Romans cohorts with LF, bow rear ranks? They should work like the FoG:R lists with second rank bow. They fire as though they were in the front rank as normal and LF need 2 bases to get 1 dic...

Possible New Southern League Venue for 2017

I have been looking for a venue to run a round of the Southern League in the Reigate area. We have located a venue but it is only available on Saturdays. Aiming for Late Jan or Feb 2017. Is there any interest in a Saturday round or should we keep looking for a Sunday venue? So far we have had no luc...

Re: Southern League 'Way of The Warriors' June 5th

A very enjoyable day. Will did a fantastic job of organising and touring around making fun of people... sorry offering insightful commentary. I only played one army with cavalry and so did not feel that they were a big problem. Allowing more than 12 base would be a problem; there were no elephants b...

Re: BHGS Challenge 2016

We're actually up to 9 now. It's better, but still odd! I could make it up to 10 BUT I would have to leave early on Sunday afternoon (about 15:15) to catch a flight. I would be willing to cut my lunch break, have umpire generated scenery and start an extra 6 inches in to give a quick last game but ...
