Re: Some snafus in the HoN UI

When you move a unit during the supply phase, possible future targets light up with a red icon. This didn't happen as I moved the bazooka to the hedgerow square on the left from where I should definitely have LOS. So I wonder is there a fault with LOS across the pond or is only the back part of the...

That was my first thought but it should still be range 7 which is clearly in range in the picture. I believe it's the hedgerow blocking as I indicated above.

Re: Some snafus in the HoN UI

What is the square directly adjacent to the Bazooka ('below' it)? If it's a hedgerow then it would block LOS to everything 'below' the diagonal line (so you can see the pond, but nothing 'south' of it). Does that make sense?

Re: Heroes of Normandie Patch 1.06

I think the point that klkitchens is trying to make is that it's all in the presentation. Calling the normal dice 'Ironman mode' somehow implies that it is an increased difficulty or some other handicap to the player. So regardless of which setting is default, having them billed as 'Standard dice' v...

Re: Board Game vs PC

There are definitely difference at the moment but some of them are being added in upcoming updates. A few other differences: • No cards (on the way) • Opp Fire is handled differently • Objectives are handled differently (they are on intersections in the board game and thus are contestable) • No tran...

Re: skirmish battles just end

I think the issue is more that the game becomes very hard to balance. If you say Mortars are overpowered, and don't mention you are playing with infinite turns then the feedback is skewed, so you need to be very careful what feedback to listen to when you have options. Sometimes people don't even r...

Re: Broken....Assualt and Buildings

Maybe I miss the reason for suppression. It needs the same numbers to suppress as to hit and wound. Did I miss some during the tutorial. If I could hit to suppress why not just roll to hit. Your attack mods are doubled when firing to suppress. So if you're normal strength vs infantry is 2 and the t...

Re: skirmish battles just end

While I agree that options are good, you also have to be careful about the validity of data/posts from people who are playing 'outside the norm'. For example, mortars are somewhat powerful in this game since you can just rain fire down onto anyone anywhere on the board with no restrictions. To do so...

Re: Transport ability?

Thanks for the info. Hopefully the transport will fulfill the same role as the board game (which is pretty darned forgiving with the way transport works ;) ).

Transport ability?

I just tried a larger (6 map) scenario and purchased the Mechanized tile for the infantry (which grants 2 Halftracks). I don't see any mention of the transport ability for these units. Considering that transport is an important component of those units, are there any plans to implement this ability ...

Largers skirmishes are great fun!

So with the unlock today, I was finally able to play on maps the size I'm used to from the board game and it was a blast! The luck is a bit muted because there are more units, more activations, and more time to recover (for either side). The game really comes into it's own with the better build opti...

Re: mechanics are great...scenarios...

I lost that scenario the first time (badly) when they immobilized Oddball with the first shot. The 2nd time, Oddballf lit up the halftrack, then the first AT team and moved away from the 2nd. When the 2nd AT team moved forward to engage I moved the Greyhound up and fried it on the first shot as well...

Re: Have you found the powergame template yet?

This has been tried a few times when playing the board game and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The main issue with is that units start to die off and you end up with extra orders that you don't need which is a waste. In the right situation though, having all units activate can be very ...

Re: A Shame ?

Can't address the concerns about screen size or design decisions between PC and iPad but I have seen the following in various threads: The Skirmish mode is very poor (3 small maps) They are going to patch it to unlock all of the maps without having to complete the smaller ones (patch should be soon ...

Re: Dice rolls - another gripe

The 'symbol' can cause some confusion. The dice have 'pips' for 1-5 (stars or crosses) but the '6' is just one larger star or cross. So often it looks like the roll is a 1 when it's actually a 6. Keep an eye on it and see if you can note the differences between the 1 and the 6 and eventually it beco...

Re: Dice rolls

Wow I really didn't expect people to be so paranoid about die rolls! If the devs say that there is no cheating, why would they lie? I have seen some terrible luck in this game but I've seen it on both sides. Anything things don't go your way there is a tendency to want to blame the luck. Well, unfor...

Re: Dice rolls

As someone who rolls TERRIBLY in face to face board games, I've actually felt like my rolls in the HoN PC battles have been pretty darned good lol. I actually take shots on the PC that I wouldn't bother with in the board game. So yeah, I would say it's mostly just perception... ;)

Re: Minor Annoyances

Forests are +1 to defense. So depending on the combat situation, this can be a big help or not much at all. For example, if your defense is 5 and the enemy attack is +1, they need to roll a 4+ to hit you. If you're in the woods so it's a 5+ which translates to able 33% less vulnerable. If you have a...

Re: How big are the maps?

Well you wont have to 'make' maps the way you do for some titles (ie, edit one hex/square at a time). The HoN boardgame uses large 'geomorphic' map squares that you can configure how you like. You generally lay out between 2 and 9 tiles and can form them into a desired map combination. It takes just...

Re: How big are the maps?

That's great news! I can't wait. :) Any chance of Objectives (ie, collecting points for terrain) make their way into Skirmish mode (or at least to the Scenario Editor)? rich12545 - 12 maps is only for Skirmish mode. Once you can mix and match with the editor the possibilities should be endless (espe...
