Re: GS 42-43 Messina ends early

Amazingly though, there were reliable Italian army units in Africa and Sicily. Let's not forget the Italian troops at the Ostfront, especially around Stalingrad: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Army_in_Russia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_participation_in_the_Eastern_Front Those are i...

Re: GS 42-43 Messina ends early

Loyalty is a difficult word to apply to the Italians as there were few, if any, that stayed on the same side throughout the whole war. The country betrayed the Allies to start the war, but also betrayed the Axis. Mussolini was betrayed, but he also betrayed Italian efforts at democracy by making hi...

Re: Monstrous McAuliffe at Bastogne

You are welcome... :D just to be historical Just as a thought, while I like playing with historical setups and historical unit compositions, this also leads to historical outcomes most of the times... Very true! I thought about this often when playing WW2 games like this. Bastogne was a dism...

Re: Monstrous McAuliffe at Bastogne

Thank you PeteMichell. I wonder why it always moved down to the south before appearing. If I was the designer, I would have made Mr. Nuts as an infantry unit nestled into the larger urban mass next to the artillery. I've had good luck in that scenario by attacking from the NW of Bastogne and he alwa...

Re: GS 42-43 Messina ends early

I took the branch of defending Salerno and Anzio so I don't know how the anti-Italian branch in Taranto goes. I guess that gives the campaign some replay value although that is doubtful cause there's no way I can finish the Bastogne mission. I haven't read anything about the fate of the Italian equi...

Re: Monstrous McAuliffe at Bastogne

In my game, that level 15 TD was in amongst the pack of armor & infantry attacking from the middle bottom of the map and evaporated the Jagdtiger I put there cause I was replaying it the 4rth time and I knew it was there and it never lost a point in return. If it was in the town it must have somehow...

Re: GS 42-43 Messina ends early

Isn't it cheating to sell the Italian units instead of using them or retreating them? I'm trying to imagine Germans setting up booths in Messina with Italian equipment freshly painted, wrapped in shrinkwrap and on display to sell it off to the locals and earlier arriving British troops looking for w...

"Us, surrender? Nuts!"

I think you may need to open the respective scenario.pzscn file in the scenario editor and remove the unit and maybe also remove/edit the script that is triggering the unit to show up...
Thanks I will have to tinker with that to see if I can do it.

Monstrous McAuliffe at Bastogne

Search function gives me error so maybe I'm not the first person with this problem. In Bastogne mission in Germany western campaign, I was struggling against the numerous American defenses and counterattacks, but then General McAuliffe appeared in a 15 strength tank destroyer which automatically wip...

Re: Strategies for playing Athens?

Solaristics, you could pull a Brutus on Rome and stab them in the back. Then you will have all the fun you wanted plus more. And you don't need to feel bad about doing it cause that is the standard protocol Rome follows with its allies. And for your next game, make sure you don't set enemies on noob...

Re: Strategies for playing Athens?

Solaristics, you are a diplomatic powerhouse, but I implore you to consider the wise words from Napoleon, "To be nice is a vice. Beware making too many friends lest you have no enemies left to war with."

Re: Illogical AI

Ya medieval has the most dogpiling on the player and there isn't any diplomacy, even though it is a really good game. If you get the Stainless Steel mod, the game seems much more manageable and you can play any nation. Rome 2 is not so bad. I play it on hard which is a reasonable challenge. I only g...

Stuka, HS 129, and Ju-88 were all good bombers from 1942 to war end.

Re: Happiness and Army Size

So basically you mean we have to balance the army size while staying aware of the ratio, not aim for big or small. If citizens are under 100, the happiness rating is more forgiving regarding the army size?

Re: Italiens in Endsige

Okay that makes sense. Maybe we have to sadly leave our Italian friends behind. The hapless M41 tanks, all dented up and missing rivets, would be like empty popcans waiting to be recycled in battle against tooled up, ferocious slavs.

Re: US Pacific Campaign AAR

Make sure you save all your work on your own computer especially as you are making it. That's my cardinal rule of posting anything online. I've done AARs too with doctored screenshots and short stories and often deleted my own stuff from online if I didn't like the websites. I like the picture of th...

Re: US Pacific Campaign AAR

Those pictures are well done with the paintshop enhancements to help us understand the action. In Bataan, it seems you retreated while winning the fight which is unusual. You really gone & brewed those tanks like freshly ground coffee beans. I guess you were following the mission instructions to ret...
