To clarify the example that we had in our game: My Arab lancers, shock troops, were in single rank line as were the Lombards, this only gives the attacker 2 dice at impact and three in melee for what should have been a shattering flank charge. Generally it is all covered very well - until - small nu...

A general list question really, what about those warband types that were particularly noted to be more dangerous than the rest, such as selected Bodyguards, Galatians, Chatti, Gaesati and Attecotti? I have seen no mention of Superior Warband anywhere yet and so would these give some armies a chance ...

I agree with Peter on this. Scouting should relate to the army type, the terrain that it is campaigning in and the quality of its leaders. Sheer numbers are irrelevant and "scouting" frequently reflected the need to forage and loot by certain armies in the field. The quality of military intelligence...

Flank Attacks

I will recount the last incident: 4 bases of Arab lancers in line were lucky enough to strike the flank of 6 bases of Lombard Nobles, also in line. All were Su...

End of game three ??“ Questions and Ideas. 1. The order of march/deployment ??“ essential to any army - seems to have no significance to the layout or plan of the battle. Anything can go anywhere and seems to lead to totally unhistorical gamesmanship. The best plan always seems to be to leave critic...

Third battle Report

Third Battle Report ??“ Hungarians v Turks As witnessed by an ageing English mercenary travelling on a belated pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I gained a good vantage point atop a steep hill at the rear and right flank of the Hungarian lines. Our camp was down below and protected by several thousand of...

Definitely 1b.

Whether using the BG`s themselves to indicate the cohesion or additional character figurines, its the looking good of the figure game that is important. Tokens or counters spoil the visual effect on the tabletop.
