Re: Army statisics: FOG2DL

For those of us who are data-addicted... er... data-driven... I've put the above 3 seasons win/draw/loss numbers into a spreadsheet which you can search and sort at your leisure.

Re: Threatened flank

That's clear. So basically the definition is: "A BG of non-skirmishers has a threatened flank if there are enemy non-skirmishers currently in charge reach and capable of charging the BG's flank/rear in the next turn." One edge case: if the BG is in a BUA or anything that eliminates the negative effe...

Threatened flank

The -1 CT modifier for "threatened flank" in the tabletop rules comes with a bit of baggage viz: * doesn't apply to skirmishers * "page 136 - definitions of "threatened flank" "Any part of the BG is less than six MUs away from ANY table edge" Do these limitations apply in the PC game as well? What's...

Re: Why did my Christmas Tournament game end?

Hi Richard This is the screen at the end of the replay: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v27ks6d6us27d4y/Rome-Carthage%20odd%20finish.jpg?raw=1 The other odd thing is the replay does not show the victory notice and the after-action stats screens. It just ends with the "end turn" button active. "The game sc...

Why did my Christmas Tournament game end?

One of my games in the Christmas Rise of Rome tournament has ended with me as the victor (as reported by the game) but the victory conditions don't appear to have been met. Are they different for the tournament? I'm the Romans on 19% and the Carthaginians have reached 40%, but that difference is onl...

Re: Army statisics: FOG2DL

I've put this data into a couple of spreadsheets to see if any super-armies leap out... I've highlighted a few that seem extra-competitive but of course the missing bit is the player and their skill level. A good player can win with an average army. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cdfLyHrhdO...

Re: Help With Ancient Warfare Tactics

+1 for Archer Jones and the diagrams reused in Brian Todd Carey. Jones is a somewhat schematic reading of history which is exactly what we need for FoG II which (as I'm sure all its fans will acknowledge) is a somewhat schematic rendering of ancient warfare. Keeping those Jones rock-paper-scissors d...

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your result here . . .

Div E
Zardoz02 (Romans) beat AlexDetrojan (Greeks 227-146BC) 45% - 62%.

A close run game since the Greek pikes brought plenty of foot support to keep their flanks covered.

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your result here . . .

Division E

Zardoz02 (Romans) won against Bluefin (Pyrrhic): 31 - 63. Not quite a "pyrrhic" victory for the Romans but the endgame was a fun chase around due to rallying Pyrrhics and a lack of Roman cavalry to steamroller the survivors. As Napoleon said: "without cavalry battles have no result" .

MP Game Emails Request

Can I make a suggestion for the otherwise very useful emails that arrive when it's my turn, and when the game ends, in a multiplayer game? Especially in tournaments when everybody is playing a "random map battle", I have an inbox full, but no indication as to *which* games are ready. Would it be pos...

A first class piece of defensive terrain - marsh and rough ground! - made the Roman job easier.

Zardoz02 (Romans 199-106BC) vs Okie (Seleucids 320-303BC) won 5% to 56%.
