Who will get these extra special generals, or will we just pay extra points and everybody can have them?

It would have to be an African swallow, unless they tied it to a piece of creeper and then 2 European swallows could carry it.

The currently most popular rule set covers about 350 different armies over a period of 4500 years, 3000BC to 1500AD(CE). These are split into 4 periods, roughly: biblical/bronze age, hard to find anything written by or about the Germans or Irish then; classical/iron age, they had the Romans to write...

how big can a BG be & how many bases within that BG do you have to Rout or Fragment before it breaks? The whole Battle Group becomes disrupted, fragmented, and then breaks at the same time from what I have seen, a BG being a collection of units or a single large unit under a single junior commander...

2 MU for javelins is probably a mechanism to enable the rules to work. Otherwise 1 MU would mean that everybody could get into contact with javelinmen without ever being shot at. That or JDM and co are a bit thick, or at least senile.

Try this url. It links to the files page on a wargaming site on which lots of people have posted pics. In effect you buy lead soldiers and use them, after painting, in the game. On average my armies are about 280 figures, some are a lot bigger, some a great deal smaller. So it can take a fair amount...

Take all the POAs as written Mark. They are carefully designed so you don't need to deal with countercharges. Yes they get their POA and are assumed to counter charge..<cut>..So if the POA says "if charging" take that literally. This just confused it more for me. Are troops assumed to countercharge...

So then, are Late Romans / Byzantine Skutatoi and similar Heavy Foot going to be given a missile capability due to their darts/throwing spears/javelins? Or is this subsumed in some other part of the combat, or considered non-effective anyway?

THe Reigate LIR

What about multi-capability troops? I remember a time when Late Roman Legio had Pilum, javelins and darts. They got to shoot at very good factors and fight at very good factors. What about the Carolingian knights with bow; Khitan heavy cavalry, armed with all but the kitchen sink; mixed formations s...

Routing Units

How are routing units treated once they have broken and started to flee towards their base line? It would seem strange that if a unit broke near the enemy base line it could rout all the way back to its own before dissappearing and becoming lost. This would give a much greater chance of rallying Hea...

So will we end up with special rules for special things, e.g. Valentine only gets to use scythed chariots on an odd numbered day but gets a positive POA on Thursdays and a negative POA on Tuesday, ala WAB. Something I will be very wary of.

Also haven't seen other stuff like fortified camps, plashed woods, stakes, chains, War Wagons, Scythed Chariots, caltrops, Chinese Thunder Bomb Oxen, rampaging elephants and Hostage Screens. Will we get these as well?
