Re: Italian Lab Strategies - Pros/Cons

To show what you can do with the Italians if you focus on organization, check out the Italian corps with 106 effectiveness (I hope the image shows up--not sure if I'm doing it right). http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab75/petetodd/ItalianCorp_zpse6984d09.jpg This is with Org level 4, leader bonus,...

Re: Pekka Sormunen Axis vs Morris Allies (free oil)

During winter, movement is severely hampered by snow so retreat and advance is even slower. If you time a retreat during winter correctly you will loose little or no troops at all, also give up as little as 10 hexes of frontline wich you easily can take back when summer comes. There is a quirk in t...

On the topic of minor map changes, I noticed that for hex 59,56 the map graphic says desert hills, but really it's clear.

Re: GS v3.01 slight modifications for testing

Is this worth looking into as an alternative to having to rail PP's to the east each turn? Yes, this would be an excellent change. It shouldn't be so easy for the Russians to run away in early Barbarossa, and it's a simple way to simulate the relocation of factories. A small thing - in most games A...

Re: EXPERIENCE

Now you get the discount in all hexes, not only core friendly ones. I widened the free XP repair from 8 to 7. That means you can repair the 8th, 9th and 10th step on the unit without losing XP. That should help units from gaining XP more over time. I think this is the key change. I think the main p...

Re: GS v3.01 slight modifications for testing

Overall these are probably beneficial changes. However, I still think the unit limits don't seem quite right. The USSR would be way too severely limited--they couldn't ever build as many limited units as the US or UK, and could build only barely more than Italy. It seems to me that unit limits shoul...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

Hague does not have anything to do with the Allied morale loss. Only Brussels. The morale loss came from the effects of the German blitzkrieg. My mistake about The Hague. The Allies rushed their best troops into Belgium, the Germans went around and behind them, and it was over. Why should the Allie...

Re: GS 3.0 Plaid Axis vs Morris Allies

More on the Dyle plan. I agree with Plaid that the biggest problem for the Axis is not about Liege, but the lack of any Allied morale loss. The morale loss rule seems intended to enable the Germans in this game to recreate a measure of the success they historically had in the France campaign. It see...

Re: GS v3.00 news

If it doesn't load I would try reinstalling MH CEAW and then add GS v3.0 on top of that. Make sure you select a different folder than the current install I thought this meant we were supposed to select a different folder for GS3. Now I'm thinking it instead means to install MH CEAW in a different f...

Re: GS v3.00 news

I also had the same problem. Inspecting the GS3 installation folder I noticed the jre\lib folder was completely missing. I copied this folder from the Gold folder, along with some other things that seemed to be missing (but possibly not needed) and now it works fine. It seems to me the installer is ...

Re: GS v3.00 news

I just tried installing the PC version and it says my 16-digit serial number is invalid. This is a new re-installation of Windows 7 with CEaW Gold newly installed, and no other version of GS ever installed. The serial number worked find for the CEaW Gold. I tried it with and without the dashes for G...

Re: GS v3.0 needs a serial number to be installed

It's also a relatively low-cost game, and I've had way more enjoyment from CEaW than from any other game at any price. Of course a big reason for that is the Grand Strategy expansions, so thanks to everyone that works on it. While waiting for GS3 I decided to try the original game. It reminded me of...

Re: Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR

Together it means reasonable +10 morale boost for italian troops (equal to 1st +2nd level of organisation upgrade - roughly same morale, as UK units have now). This brings up a question (probably for Stauffenberg). Does this +10 morale boost continue indefinitely, or until Greece and Port Said are ...

Odd bug makes units dissapear

I've noticed an odd bug in GS2.1. To see it start the 1939 Scenario as Axis. Click on any one of the German air units near Poland, then click on the unspotted hex three hexes south of Danzig, and then click on the Declare War button. What I see is that instead of the war declaration map appearing th...

Russian Surrender in early 1916?

I just played as CP against the AI (privileged) with the latest update and was surprised that Russia surrendered in early 1916. I had not even been attacking Russia (concentrating on Italy), and only held Warsaw and Sarikamish. In earlier versions I believe it was too hard to get Russia to surrender...

Re: Morris Axis vs Kragdob Allies

Maybe to count as a capture of a rail hub for surrender purposes the capturing unit should have to be in supply level 3 or better. Then para drops or commando raids (landing a garrison) on rail hubs wouldn't do it. Cities would still always count since they give supply (unless bombed).

Re: One Stop List of Changes for 2.2?

Here's another map change to consider if it's not too late. Moscow is protected by solid forrest that is generally at least 4 hexes thick. With the rivers this of course makes Moscow very difficult to capture in 1941, which IRL the Axis very nearly did despite diversion of panzers north and south de...
