Re: Derby World Teams - 4 & 5 October 2014

Looks like it, although there is currently a bit of confusion about how many players are coming from France. Nice to see an Italian team this year as well.

R&R will appear on here once I get all the entries

Re: Derby World Teams - 4 & 5 October 2014

15 confirmed teams for this year's compettition - up on last year

Unfortunately the odd numbers mean that we are looking at a bye situation. I'm happy to accept individual entries to reduce the need for this - please either let me know or contact the organisers

Cheers

Re: Derby World Teams - 4 & 5 October 2014

All, To clarify: re: Phil's query - the list may only contain 16 bases of mounted troops - dismounting cannot be assumed and cannot be used to get around the limit Later Ottomans ARE ALLOWED in pool3 - I have asked DWA to post this on their website, which hopefully should be effected in the next cou...

Re: War of the Roses - Yorkist Pretender

Maybe, but I can't see a big move to bow armies. Even then there's not much better against bow armies than HA/A men-at-arms, who are still likely to be ++ in melee against a lot of bowmen & will chop them up in short order, so I don't think it's a bad matchup. I don't tend to play much out of pe...

Re: War of the Roses - Yorkist Pretender

Armored spear would give them some trouble. Yes and no. They can't get a double advantage against protected sword, so will be exactly the same as protected spear (even down to the shooting on the way in) and there would be less of them. Also, I think the number of armoured troops will be less under...

Re: BADCON 2013 - 16&17 Feb

will the results be posted up here? wondered how far we slipped back after our "top table" tropical elephant hammering last game. dave Dave, looks like the "tactical decision" to lose to you on Sunday morning worked to our advantage! You'll be delighted to hear we won 24:1 again...

Re: Are Elephants viable in V2?

Had my own elephant-on-elephant combat at Burton. It was swift and decisive - 3 hits for me, 5 for my opponent at impact, 4 on the death roll :-(

Yes Rob, that's what I meant. The same way that MF can now catch LF on a 6:1 if they go withun 3MU to shoot

Re: So is v2 any good?

I played my first v2 tournament at the weekend - Burton Doubles. I'd only played 2 games of V2 prior to this. Have to say my conclusion is that the changes made in V2 are a credit to the authors. They have resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes, but all the small tweaks that have been mad...

Re: Are Elephants viable in V2?

Played in my first v2 comp at the weekend - Burton Doubles. Competition was won convincingly by Classical Indian running 6 BGs of elephants, and elephant BGs proved to be a potent weapon all weekend. Definately NOT understrength now IMO. They face down enemy's best troops (cataphracts and heavy cava...

Re: BADCON 2013 - 16&17 Feb

My usual doubles partner can't make Burton this year, so if anyone is looking for a partner for this (FOG) comp then please let me know - I haven't entered & probably won't do so as a "single"

Cheers

Re: Derby Teams 6th/ 7th October

Hi Phil, Any period is fine. At the moment I have 15 teams and Peter Butler playing solo - Peter is doing pool 2. However Dave Redhead has dropped out of one of the other teams so they also have a gap - in pool 2 (That is with Peter Card and Tony Parkin) So you could join this team in pool 2 or join...

Re: Derby Teams 6th/ 7th October

BTW, there are still spaces - an uneven number of teams means that unfortunately this year there are going to be byes. If anyone knows of anyone who would like to play we can accomodate

Cheers
