Re: Oxford Events 2019 - Colonial Sunday June 9th

Hi All I am away from home on business the week before so lists need to be in by this Sunday 26th to ben@benedictjones.plus.com Timings as on the original listing so 30 min breaks. One additional change in the rules. Currently Cavalry on making a CMT and if in a line, ie one deep, can make a 180 deg...

Re: Godendag 2020

We have found 900 pts is too much for early European and outside Europe armies.

Just about works for TYW and ECW but can slow things down.

Is OK for late European armies ie. after 1675-80

Due to Bayonets and Determined Horse adding to costs as well as regimental guns in abundance.

Re: retiring when fragmented

First of all, you are not forced to move so Fragmented troops can stay where they are. They can make a Simple Move to retire away from all enemy within 12MUs Advance 2nd Move 3rd Move Contract if move more than 3MU Forward 90 degrees turn whilst stationary 180 Degree turn whilst stationary This has ...

Re: retiring when fragmented

Turning through 180 does not get you closer to the enemy in any direction as you are on the same footprint so no CMT is needed.

Turning 90 can change the footprint so may need to have a CMT if part of the unit is getting closer to an enemy.

Notice its getting closer not getting further away.

Re: retiring when fragmented

Very interesting question 1) A breakoff move for infantry is to retire 4mu , for cavalry to retire their movement distance, all facing the enemy, unless stopped/slowed by intervening troops/terrain 2) If a unit is Fragmented it cannot move closer to any enemy within 12" unless passing a CMT So ...

Re: Oxford event Sunday February 10th - European Rebels 1514 to 1576

The only problem with the Buccaneer army is that it is head and shoulders above all the other armies from around there at that time. Which means that everyone would want the Buccaneers. The only one that might come close would be Eastern Woodland Indian. Its like the Japanese in eastern asia, can be...

Re: Oxford event Sunday February 10th - European Rebels 1514 to 1576

Having the only true peasant army there, it seems to not lose but couldn't win by enough 11-9 (Don) 13-7 (Ray) 10-10 (Tim)

Nice to see Tim's ship coming out to support his Dutch army.

Thanks for the games

Re: Oxford event Sunday February 10th - European Rebels 1514 to 1576

Well if its anything like the two practice games the Danes will roll over and ask for their tummys to be tickled rather than fighting. If you only get 1 hit at evens out of 8 dice, not once , not twice but more than three times you are not going to win many melees. Even the few superiors I'm allowed...

Yes there will, and not many superiors. Lots of MOB and Poor troops are a possibility.

DOn't forget that Steve Holt got Best Painted Army, based over all the competitions held there that weekend.

Ben

PS He also painted the army I borrowed from Bob (Poles), Lynette's (Habsburg), and half of Bob's (North African State)
