Mixed Spear/Bow Units - How Do They Work?

I've been trying out Nikephorian Byzantines recently, with their mixed defensive spear and bow units. Before that I was a fan of the Late Achaemenid Persians, whose Immortals saunter around in a mixed offensive spear and bow combo. Neither seem to work. Immortals look grand in their green and gold c...

Re: LOEG Season 10 - Dark Ages Recruitment Open

1) Bedouin (Hamdanid of Aleppo)
2) Bedouin (Hamdanid)
3) Bedouin (Iqaylid)

Division B for me? Only been in one season of LOEG, but played a lot of casual games. If there is no Div B, then I think I'd be competitive in Div A.

Re: LOEG Season 10 - Medieval Recruitment Open

1) Anglo-Irish (Later)
2) Anglo-Irish (Early)
3) Medieval Irish (Early)

I've only been in one earlier LOEG season, but I've played a lot of casual games, so I could probably be competitive in one of the higher divisions.

Many thanks for organising this! :)

Re: LOEG Season 10 - Classical - Recruitment Open

1) Graeco-Bactrian 2) Indo-Greek 3) Graeco-Bactrian (Mounted) Voskarp -- a suggestion. Wouldn't it make more sense to declare a deadline, wait until all players have come in, and *then* allocate them to divisions based on previous LOEG involvement and general experience? I'm not meaning to be rude h...

Re: FOG:It's a Knock-out 2. Post your own result here.

The last of the 2nd Round Battles ... Londo (Sassanid Persians L) 22/29 beat claymore (Arab Conquest) 29/28 There were two hills in close proximity. Persians and Arabs each took one and glared at each other. Then with rude gestures (and showers of arrows) the Persians convinced their foe to come off...

So the People's Front of Judea beat the Judean People's Front (or was it the other way around)?

Re: FOG:It's a Knock-out 2. Post your results here.

Londo (Sassanid Persian L) 17/32 beat BillMc (Scots Isles and Highlanders) 39/38. The Persians concentrated on one wing of Islesmen, with the Dailami guard proving again that they are faster than a speeding arrow, more powerful than a heavy chariot, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! (Fi...

Hi BillMc, I have posted a challenge for your Scots and Highlanders. Password: BillMc If we Persians don't get the right terrain, this is going to be a very painful battle against your vast hordes of hairy Scotsmen! Couldn't Iran and Scotland just be friends? War, what is it good for? Cheers,...

Re: FOG:It's a Knock-out 2. Recruitment now open!!

Question: what will happen if a game doesn't play through to a conclusion? It's been very rare in the friendly games I've played, but maybe in a tournament you could get a situation where one guy has MF and is sitting in bad terrain and refusing to come out, and the other chap has pikes and lancers ...
