Re: Biblical: winners post your results here . . .

Division A

ahuyton (Phokian 550-461BC) beat rbodleyscott (Cypriot 549-490 BC) 57-5

A bit of luck to start with plus a nice open playing field for my hoplites was the story of our game, along with terrible dice for RBS on nearly all of his morale checks.

Re: Early Middle Ages: winners post your results here . . .

Division B

ahuyton (Bretons 411-579AD) beat ggarynorman (Byzantine 551-578 AD) 60-45

Very close game, the decider being just some rallied units at my side in the last couple of turns. A win for the Byzantine cavalry and Breton infantry in an interesting match-up.

Re: Early Middle Ages: winners post your results here . . .

I should point out that the terrain was very difficult, woods and steep hills blocking the flanks and a deep stream across the middle. I had hoped to infiltrate the woods with my medium foot and get an advantage but it was effectively countered and was clearly too slow. We agreed on a draw to preven...

Re: 2018 Tournament

My last two games finished, one against SB, who won (9-1 I think) and PB, who also won (8-2 I think), but it is up to them to report their triumphs with accuracy.

Re: 2018 Tournament

My games with TGM are concluded

TGM won with his Russians against my Coassacks, 49-23 so 8 points to 2
I won with Teutons against his German peasants, 44-11, so 9 points to 1

Two violent but friendly games, as ever.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

It was fun, Gavin and thanks for running it in such a pleasant and lively way. I admit that I did not take too much notice of the victory conditions, which was probably obvious, but enjoyed the games and I think that makes for a good campaign. It is not a lot of fun if your campaign goes badly and t...

Re: 2018 tournament ending thoughts about the next

The Ming in Crisis looks interesting as a team game with the many different armies. If the Pro Ming Team each had a different pro Ming Army and the Anti Ming Team all had a different Anti Ming army and each player played one game against all the opponents armies. The Japanese options could maybe be...

Re: 2018 Tournament

Thanks, Andre, interesting match-ups.

I posted the three challenges, pw is indicated in the challenge comment line

I could not find the Russian army specified so used the Russian army closest in date to the designated Coaasack army.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

Alan, my apologies, I didn't realise we both tried to claim Algeria. I have set up the battle as we might as well play it out and maybe we will get it finished before the next move is due. I've stuck to the rules as far as pot luck armies, version3, and medium size, but have gone for agricultural a...

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

Andre, we have to tussle over Algeria. As I lost to Gavin with my English, I will recruit some Spanish to hop over the Med. What period would you like to play? Feel free to set up the game with your army and the appropriate opponent. Or I can do it if you tell me what army you want to play with. Sug...

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

Battle of Burnham Wood - a comment by noted historian, Charles Spencer Tracy (1989) Historians now know that the Lord Protector Alan de l'Angle was not in fact present on the battlefield. A few days prior to the landing of Teutonic Knights in Sandwich (Kent), he had taken a ship from Portsmouth, hea...

Today is the last day for claiming your two unowned territories for Turn 3 January. According to my untidy records only KiwiLordski, McAwsum, G bin Dodaziz, and the Waterhead - Lioncub of the North have lodged claims this month.
As have I, Gavin...

Re: 2018 tournament ending thoughts about the next

Thanks for all these interesting and positive comments. I personally would quite like to keep the teams, if only because it makes the tournament-champion side of things less critical. In turn this makes the games more enjoyable, I think. But we will need to try to balance them better. Having played ...
