Re: Is the decadence mechanism need a bit of tweaking?

As I wrote before somewhere, the main thing I don't like is the sharp discrete increase in decadence when you go from Stable to Glorious due to status age. I guess people in my nation get relaxed when we become glorious, but why won't they get relaxed when we are stable for forever? I'm not agitatin...

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

Year 286 update (turn 25): - Macedonia continues its aggressive expansion with its next victim- Lysimachus himself! I guess brotherhood means nothing for Cassander. Fake news alert! We just pretend to be at war to circumvent restriction placed by sacred Pocus oracle on land trading. -Pnoff of Macedon

Re: Sieges, food and pop growth

That's actually WAD. I think there's some design for effect going on here, i.e., timing the start of a siege until right after a pop increase could be considered waiting until political conditions are ripe to get a city to surrender earlier. I would rather bet that it is common 4x food-pop mechanic...

Sieges, food and pop growth

Problem: Moving in for a siege next turn after pop growth can drastically disadvantage the besieged (see pics, the second one is when I moved in right after pop growth deliberately). This is unrealistic and creates unnecessary micro/cheesing. siege_1.jpg siege_2.jpg Possible solution: a) Increase po...

Re: General Priority Issue

I just witnessed my fleet and army get embarrassed by an enemy flotilla because instead of the 1-1 admiral in charge of the fleet taking priority, the 2-0 general in charge of the transport fleet did, resulting in me rolling fewer dice than my opponent. That's not okay Pocus. Not. Okay. +++ Had sim...

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

I appreciate your contribution to the discussion. However, people who study military history in depth didn't make the video or the Wikipedia entry. They teach at military academies, and they teach that this was the Age of Infantry. Great states with professional, well equipped infantry armies ruled...

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

Geffalrus, perhaps you should send your proof to all of the world's military academies, because they still teach the fact that prior to Adrianople was the Age of Infantry. I'm not saying that cavalry aren't important. I'm posting the commonly held knowledge that cavalry were not heavily armored tan...

Re: Has Field of Glory Empires been a commercial success?

I wouldn't be interested in playable battles tbh, irl logictics would become nightmare. The battles would need to be played in real-time rather than PBEM, so they could be resolved in 1-2 hours, and there would have to be an option to let the AI control your forces if you can't make time on a given...

This is to officially announce Non-Aggression Pact between Macedon and Lysemakos, with 5 year warning between any hostilities.

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

You are too kind and I also want to apologise for my initial presumption of hostile language despite actually the conversation being quite civil. I totally missed the fact that you're all roleplaying entitled rulers, as opposed to actually being ones! Let's get back to the backstabbing then. OOC no...

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

That was of course after you declared war. Your point being...? 1) treaty is broken and void. 2) Macedon declares war. 3) Epirus shows that they had the same understanding of the treaty by inventing unconvincing excuses. The king is now retiring from this discussion for good. The Carthage is entitl...

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

Start is neither a turn or ayear, and can mean many things within a reasonable timeframe. I do not count the 'start' of my appointment to the leadership of Carthage only to the first day or minute or second of my rule. I would imagine we are still, three years in, at the start of the game. But I gu...

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

So then no year for the invasion was detailed and thus misunderstanding was not only possible but probable. The fact you were left 'under the impression' by your mind is so ironclad it is justification for war but the conversation as a whole is so meaningless to you that a verbal agreement to peace...

Re: Field of Diplomacy - Calling Players for an MP game

The oral negotiations left Macedon under impression that territorial division and attack on Aetolia at the start was in order, meaning that as long as both sides stick to it no hostilities are possible. Since no treaty was officially annonced, we are entitled to our understanding. Funny how Carthag...

More misinformed ramblings, will it ever end?

The fight with Aetolia was close and bloody, since Epirus left them time to expand their army.

Epirus army was destroyed by our fleet when their abandonment became clear.
