Re: DLC 42 West 02 - Bayonne

I continued the DLC with my imported core for this scenario. A very good challenge. I had to restart twice, but I finally got down a good starting position for my forces that allowed me to finish off the British forces attacking the trains, and then moved then slowly north as my forces cleared the w...

Re: DLC 42 West 01 - St. Nazaire

Much like everyone else here, I found this scenario rather hard with the generic core, I barely achieved a MV. OTHO my imported core fared much better. Overall, I really like the small size of this scenario, and does a good job creating the feel of having to respond to a surprise commando raid. Very...

Re: I thought I was doing so well until I met the Bear

Stecal, I just had the same thing happen to me. In my game, I decided to put off the invasion of Russia until I had a larger force built up. The Russians declared war in December 1941, and by March 1941 they had multiple (at least a dozen) tank forces, several of which were at the army level. By Sep...

Re: Suggestion regarding naval pop-up boxes

Doomtrader, thank you so much for the link! That is very good news, I eagerly await the arrival of the 1.04 patch. BTW I'm still playing my first '39 scenario, I can only take 2 or 3 turns a day (work, family, etc.), but I am still having a lot of fun with SWiE! Once again, thanks for making (and su...

Re: City names mixed up in some scenarios?

Glad to see this isn't just an issue for me, I was starting the '43 DLC and, after a few turns, noticed that a large part of the map was mislabeled. I'll hold off on starting the DLC until a patch is released... thankfully I have AK to keep me more than busy in the meantime! :)

Suggestion regarding naval pop-up boxes

Hello! I am really enjoying Strategic War in Europe very much, a lot of good stuff packed into a small program! However, I do have one minor issue. Would it be possible to add (perhaps in a future patch) an option to turn off the pop-up boxes that come up when the cursor passes over a port city? Sin...

Re: Possible 1.10 bug - AI progress bar

Hi fsx, I thought about the possibility that AI bar could be showing two types of attacks. However, the artillery/melee attacks are scattered among the AI's turn, so the progress bar moves up and down multiple times over the course of the AI's turn. So it seems to defeat the purpose of showing how f...

Possible 1.10 bug - AI progress bar

I've been playing PzC under the 1.10 build for a few days, and noticed something strange with the red progress bar that runs in the upper right while the AI takes its turn. Whenever the AI fires an artillery piece, the bar seems to go much faster, sometimes almost going to the end of the line; but i...

I was searching for this thread as I had to reprint one of my "trees" -- as everyone said before, thank you Rood for all the hard work, it is greatly appreciated! :D

Would these changes apply strictly to the original manual (and the four original campaigns), or will it be expanded to include information on the DLC campaigns?

Ian, is there a list of changes in the new beta somewhere, so that we can compare the new additions/improvements to the former build? Thanks!

Re: AK: Battleaxe

On my 6th try, I finally got a win in the Battleaxe scenario, a MV in 15 turns! I decided to "circle the wagons" and keep all of my forces in a tight group, which helped defeat the British attack from the east. For the desert flank attack, I let my air forces take care of the enemy units until I was...

Re: AK: Battleaxe

Well, I've just finished my fifth try on Battleaxe (colonel difficulty) and I'm still getting hammered. I've tried several strategies -- attack immediately, hold the line, fall all the way back to Bardia -- and none seem to be working. My three chief issues with the scenario so far: 1. The pop-ups i...

Brevity. DV in 14 turns (colonel). 2 medals, 2 heroes. New units: Recon (deploy, T5), Bersigliani (T6). Units lost: Recon, Bersigliani. End prestige: 714. A brief scenario that features the first British offensive in the campaign. I was able to survive the inital British assault, and quickly went o...

Ras el Mdauuar. MV in 14 turns (colonel). 0 medals, 0 heroes. New units: Recon (deploy), Bersaglieri (T11). Units lost: Bersaglieri, recon. End prestige: 579. A nice tactical puzzle. I had to restart this a few times before I got my opening assualts down right. It's a careful "balancing" act here, ...

Re: AK: Reconnaissance in Force

8) Two quick things I forgot to mention:

1. When placing the mouse over a desert hex, there is no name displayed for the terrain in the right-side panel. This seems to only be the case in the first scenario.

2. I like the new background music.

Recon in Force. (Colonel difficulty) DV in 16 turns. 0 medals, 0 heroes. New units: Ju-87R (T1), Bf 109E (T6). Units lost: Recon. End prestige: 118. First impression: very good scenario. This harks back to the days of Allied General, which I always enjoyed very much. I REALLY like how the mission's...

VP, you are my hero... I was terrified I'd have to restart the campaign from '42 (or worse, from '39). Thank you for your help, sir! :D
