Re: AK Scenario Editor

Edit: My mode uses Massi's tilesets, methinks this may be the problem. With Massi activated I can load my custom scenarios, but the AK fails. I have copied and activated a personal Mod (that works fine in PzC) in the AK beta folder. When I try to open one of my scenarios that use the mod I get a Vis...

Re: Germans vs. italians in the core

Re overstrength units. I am aware that a division is not always a division... But I would prefer the difference between unit TO&E strengths were solved in the equipment file. Currently it gives players an advantage vs the AI in the campaigns They disband lesser-valued units, buy the most powerful an...

Re: Germans vs. italians in the core

I think the historically correct decision would be not to allow players to disband core units (make it a designer option). After all, Rommel played the cards he was given. He could no decide to replace Italian units with German. On a side note, personally I think over strength units are just fantasy...

Re: AK: Gazala Line

Fun scenario and just a suggestion regarding the mines. It would have helped a bit having an aux pioneer unit (maybe with lower strength) called "mine clearer" or something like that so people would have a better idea how to combat those things. The problem I see with this scenario is that players ...

Re: Market Garden 1944 - custom scenario

The number of scenarios will depend on how many I manage to reasonably fit in. There are currently 4 main scenarios; the large ones at each airborne division's objective and the surprise bridge assault one week ahead of the campaign. In addition I am planning various scenario routes depending on how...

Re: Map feedback wanted

Chris, the Main Map Man!
Very good feedback.
I have one disagreement however, the curved roads across rivers. If these were not 'allowed' I think a number of roads would get quite convoluted, not so much in Africa than in Europe where may be a lot of rivers on a map.

Re: Market Garden 1944 - custom scenario

Glad you enjoyed the scenario, Robert. i am a stickler for historicallly correct scenarios (while bending the rules for playability), so it is nice to see other players value that. One of the early testers suggested I made a Market-Garden campaign, I have finished about half of the planned scenarios...

Re: Germans vs. italians in the core

Interesting thread. I hope history is not thrown out the window with players being allowed to disband the Italians and carry on with a German-only force in the campaign. A DAK without the Italians being part of the core is not very interesting IMO. I think the best solution would be separate German/...

Re: Beta 2 available!

Care to list the changes so we know what to look out for?
There is no readme doc in the new version.

Also, will the scenario editor manual be updated with all the new goodies?
After play-testing the AK-scenarios I will revisit a Market-Garden campaign I am working on.

Thanks

Re: AK: Second offensive

Edit: Why does the scenario end with an automatic Axis DV when they capture the last (primary) objective, there are still Allied flag/prestige locations to be captured. It is gamey to have to wait conquering the last primary objective until the flag/prestige locations are under Axis control. With th...

Re: AK: Gazala Line

Very interesting scenario although a frustating one if you do not have the "correct" core (plenty of Pioniers) at start. Replacing a few Italian infantry units with engineer units along the frontline would help. After all, the Axis knew they were heading into mine-fields and would lead the advance w...

Re: AK: Second offensive

The reinforcements arrived on turn 19 of 22. That is a tad too late to start a second offensive. Otherwise a balanced and fun scenario. Reinforcements are not time triggered but depend on players performance. You need to hold El Agheila in your hands (there is neutral flag in it at beginning and Br...

Assembled armor at all A points and had the panzers stay there for one full turn. No further popups and therefore no way to find the supply dumps. Otherwise a balanced scenario.

Re: AK: Reconnaissance in Force

Fun scenario with a historical feel. Good to finally see better named units. The in-game messages should be more clear in style with military orders, now they are more like chit-chat and could be confusing. Place the in-game messages in the lower right corner under the strat map by default. Edit: Th...

Re: AK: Ras el Mdauuar

Add one or two more turns. Add a German airfield (I got a Bf100C as present from HQ...), add British AA units for balance. Lower the strength of British forts to 10, replace a few of them with dug-in troops (more fun than bunker-busting). Adjust fort values to give the German artillery a fair chance...

Mortar unit icons

And about Mortar Teams. We have numerous Mortar Unit Icons, all very good. They all require a nearby Infantry Icon or something to protect them, right?
I am looking for German, British and US mortar icons. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Re: Paras and land transport

and thats why its sort of a moot point as the only time this was really attempted under combat conditions was Market Garden which remained the only allied airborne operation in WWII due to obvious reasons... D-Day (Neptune) with the 82nd and 101st was pretty big, too. And Operation Varsity (crossin...
