I can't blame you for Tigers, Panthers, V-Waffen and other stuff being invented too late to have a major impact on WW2. :D I intended this for players who wonder if they should go for the Heinkel line or the Junkers line and how much they can expect the upgrade to cost. I think there is ... not much...

I always take the first halftrack. I usually prefer self-propelled artillery like the Sturmpanzer I despite their low ammo. I also used a StuH42 in Italy - because it is well armored against air attacks, unlike other self-propelled artillery. Not unimportant if you play a defensive campaign. I never...

German level bomber upgrade paths and availability

I started another 1939 campaign and wondered if I should this time focus on Heinkel He 111H2 bombers to upgrade them to He 177A Greif later. I used Ju88 exclusively till I got to the US scenarios in my first campaign. So I wondered about the bomber types, availability and the prestige they cost. The...

I am playing the 1939 campaign again, this time on Field Marshal. You might remember my thread where I asked how I can determine the difficulty of a savegame. Well, I made sure that I am playing FIELD MARSHAL and guess what... it's not really more difficult so far. Granted, you get a lot less presti...

Standalone expansions have become quite popular as they seem to sell better than pure expansions. But I will leave iz to the Slitherine/Matrix/Lordz to figure out what makes the most profit. A cool idea would be to have "expanded" campaigns for owning several standalone "Panzer Corps". Say Panzer Co...

Congrats! I had a similar experience with US West Coast. I found US East is a tough battle EARLY on. They might kill a few core units before you get them unloaded, which really hurt me. Still I found most resistance was at the beachheads and in the air. Did you knock out the Radar towers with land u...

How can I find out the difficulty level of a savegame?

How can I find out the difficulty level of a savegame?

I am not sure if I really started my new 1939 campaign on Field Marshal and just wondered if I didn't pick Colonel again by accident.

It *must* be stored somewhere in the savegame, after all. Any idea how to find out?

Maybe at "The Salvation Army" before the series merges with "Guitar Hero".

I am confident and hope to see some of my favorite PG/AG scenarios in future. With a fitting name as well.

I think both Borsook and Kerensky make valid points for both systems. I personally think the current X core units system works well, using only the latest and most expensive hardware can cause trouble. Reinforcing a Tiger II with Elite replacements is not exactly "cheap" while it is much easier to k...

Some scenarios are not what they are supposed to be

Most of us have fairly similar ideas about what to expect when we read scenario names. Which unfortuntaly doesn't get delivered. While the scenarios itself are nice, the names are misleading and the scenario that people actually want is missing, i.e. people want D-DAY in Overlord, not "Cobra". STALI...

Well, the final US West Coast scenario on Guderian... 5 or 7 turns less makes this for sure VERY HARD if not impossible, at least a "decisive" victory. I played "Lake Balaton" in the 1943 West Campaign a few days ago and I thought I was on the offensive and in the end I was glad that the Russians di...

Yeah don't shoot the messenger. His criticism is much wanted and not to be handwaved, even if I don't agree to all points. I also think the special abilities of certain units are not always clear and indeed you can check for them ingame anywhere. This is mostly true for infantry. I *know* from readi...

I play Colonel for campaigns. Might play General as this level has a better AI level. Read what Kerensky wrote and it should be mentioned if you complete the Campaign at Field Marshal level you can unlock 3 extra FM level difficulties named after famous German Generals that have interesting extra mo...

They are already cheaper and in case of Jagdtiger vs Tiger II they only cost HALF but you people might have a point that the early STUG III series is a bit underwhelming in Panzer Corps. The main difference is that Tank Destroyers are not Infantry destroyers as they were in Panzer General. But that ...

Overlord criticism! That the AI was - even in PG - notoriously weak on the attack is well known. But I noticed the following not only scenario specific blunders in Overlord: 1.) 2 Tanks and 1 Infantry is all that will EVER attack Paris 2.) All attacks go south from Calais, down the map. While every ...

I think this needs some clarification: I am not sure what exactly the difference between General and Field Marshal is. But beating the CAMPAIGN (1939 - don't know if the others work as well) at Field Marshal level unlocks THREE extra difficulty levels named after famous Generals. These are Field Mar...

Congrats, Fritz! :)

I doubt I will ever manage to do that on Field Marshal... so I cheated... *cough* ... just to see the bonus reward. ;)

What shall I say without spoiling it... let me just say BRILLIANT idea.
