It's happening again... Playing the Merr scenarios...I destroyed 2 of my opponents Panthers and grabbed an objective...when it came back to my turn, the objective was not in my control (the opponent didn't retake it, presumably they didn't even know it was captured) and one of the panthers was back ...

Good questions. Yes, I would think that the threat should be assessed by the unit put into 'overwatch' and it would be directly related to itself. So an M5 won't see a truck as a threat (even if it is loaded with infantry...again, players choice) but would see a Puma as one and fire on it. I like yo...

Putting a hold-fire causes problems, because now your tanks risk letting a bunch of LOADED trucks zoom all around infront of it while immune to fire. Good point, and I admit I don't know enough yet about the AI works here.

I would think that it would work much like the 'Hold Fire' setting, in fact, perhaps be an extension of that.

Along the lines of my 'Priority Targeting' concept. It could be a menu item that allows perhaps different settings. Again, tanks I have no problem with, it's part of their job. It's tucks that are the issue. Just wouldn't happen and therefore gamey.

But I'm not here to argue with you...just offering some suggestions.

I'll admit my 'Priority' solution is preferred over restrictive movement (likely easier programatically as well). It's unlikely that a truck would get ordered to draw enemy tank fire...just as it would be unlikely that tanks would fire on them knowing there are other tanks about. Priority of target ...

While we're on the subject...

Would it be possible to prevent the gamey use of trucks/halftracks to draw out tank fire so that the other tanks can then swarm in? Or am I missing something? (ie. will hold fire prioritize targets?).

Great game though...just a minor point I've noticed of late.

Thanks Pip,

Yes, the fn+delete with a click does in fact delete units. It isn't easy with my wee imac keyboard, the two keys are on opposite sides! Shouldn't need to use it too often though (ideally anyway).

Picked up the demo the other day...hooked me right away. Bought the whole package and look forward to designing some scenarios (some of you may know me from Memoir '44).
