Unable to conform

We had a situation in our game last night where it appeared that neither side could conform in their own manoeuvre phase. This meant I could not feed bases into the melee that I would have been able to had they conformed, and I lost a BG as a result. Here is the situation : http://i684.photobucket.c...

With two BGs of average Cavalry I would expect to always be completely overmatched in cavalry !

Re: Pseudo Newb with a plan for an army.....

I plan to smash a flank with superior armored spear with two or three protected average units behind it to turn in on flanks once we've gone through. With the army size you are talking about you will need pretty much all of your hoplites in the battle line, otherwise you will be quickly outflanked....

Pursuit of broken BG

Gendarmes etc must continue to pursue even when they lost contact with the broken BG, unless they pass a CMT to stop pursuing. But when do they take the CMT ? In our game this week my Gendarmes broke an enemy BG in his turn and pursued into difficult terrain, losing contact with the broken enemy BG....

Re: Later Seleucid Archers: MF vs. LF

MF archers are normally a nice target for most other troops. They normally shoot two or three times (often just against enemy skirmishers) then die. If they are unprotected they will often get shot up by enemy LF. LF archers get to shoot a lot more, and can run away from trouble.

Re: Late Seleucid 650pt -> 800pt

Also the Tarantine cavalry looks interesting, being Drilled LH. But is there really an advantage to having LH that are drilled? After all, LH never take CMTs since they're skirmishers, right? There is effectively no advantage to being Drilled skirmishers (well I think there is some very obscure sit...

Re: Intercept by troops in disordering terrain

the Interception Charge rules on page 63 where it states that an interception charge "...can be up to the limit of the battle group's ZOI". And that is the part that contradicts the rest of your assertion. The interception move can be up to the limit of the ZOI, which is 4MU or 2MU. No mention of t...

Re: Intercept by troops in disordering terrain

The intercept zone may be 4MU, but cavalry in difficult terrain, even partially, will still only move 1MU I disagree. If they can intercept at all they can move 4MU. The interception rules make no mention of movement rates in terrain (which is why I uspect the intention was that a BG starting partl...

Intercept by troops in disordering terrain

This came up in a game yesterday. If a BG has part of the rear rank bases in terrain that Disorders it (but it's front is not in terrain), can it intercept ? It seems the rules are a bit ambiguous, as it says the intecept path cannot go through disordering terrain. Apparently (from discussion about ...

VMD required when charge target evades ?

This came up in a game last night. I have always played it one way, but my opponent disagreed. I charged a BG of LF with my HF. The LF evaded. Behind the LF, and within normal charge reach of my HF, are an enemy BG of MF. If the LF had stood to receive the charge, I would not have contacted the MF. ...

Re: Attrition points ......again

But this also means that a BG without missile weapons have only a poor chance of getting their deserved 2AP after chasing it across the table. If a BG without missile weapons has chased it across the table it is not particularly likely to be Fragmented anyway. If the 2AP are deserved for chasing a ...

Roman / Mediterranean Village

Here's a Roman or Mediterranean Village I completed recently. I play in 15mm but the buildings are 6mm scale. This way you get something that actually looks like a village, rather than just one or two 15mm buildings. Each building can be removed so figures can be placed in the village. http://i684.p...

The Danish mixed units are good - though perhaps I'd prefer all crossbow/sword armoured. I'd prefer armoured impact foot heavy weapon longbow. But thats not going to happen either. I dunno, I think someone proposed that for Elves on the FOG Swords & Sorcery forum. Superior or Elite as well I think.

Also charges, pursuits & evades where you drop a base to avoid friends.

This will not work IMO. There are quite a lot of situations (that happen every game) that you will not be able to easily work around.

2nd Quarter 2012 was the latest estimate given by the authors I think.

Sold my rulebook on ebay last week, so playing by memory & QRS until V2 comes out.

No, they're the same points. They are Crossbow, Swordsmen.
philqw78 wrote:The down side, if they lose a base.
Not too much downside because they are Armoured Swordsmen, so still pretty good in melee against many opponents.
