Re: breaking off??

Sometimes you charge without orders and then conform into a position where your a friendly BG stops the break off. Nasty.

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

Indeed, but hardly a 25 point troop type and they should always "Win Big" in combat with anything on a horse and they dont. With three dice at impact and + POA vs disordered opponent the odds are way in favour of the elephants against any mounted. Maybe you've been unlucky in one or two games, so w...

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

Polkovnik Lancer mounted would be on a ++ POA at impact so needing 3's probably with a general. Medium Foot Heavy Weapon would need 2 5's and a 4. I give the mounted the slight edge providing they are steady at impact. Rob No they wouldn't. They are Heavy Foot (in medieval Danish / Swedish armies, ...

Re: Pursuit

Unless the break happens in the impact phase (in which case you do the next impact immediately), you carry out the impact combat in the next impact phase.

Re: commander??

But if the BG autobreaks or breaks and routs but remains on table, then the commander can move away in the JAP.

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

I'm shying away from HW as their initial impact against mounted and impact foot can be scary. Well impact foot are not that common in open tournaments (although could become more so) and if you have the HW with crossbow rear rank then you are at evens vs impact foot anyway (3 dice needing 5s vs 2 d...

Re: dates for 1st Round of the Northern Doubles League 2013

I vote for V2. I think it's going to be very difficult for people who switch to V2 and play it on club nights and at other comps to then go back to V1 for the Northern Doubles rounds. I also think that if the authors / publishers support the rules, as they have done and are doing, then competition o...

Re: Unit sizes in V2

[ You don't lose as much by losing 1 rank of spear any more (I don't think). Could you explain that please. You still need two ranks of spear to get the POA. All I can think of is that if you are disrupted protected spearmen and facing an armored / sword opponent you will be on -POA whether in one ...

Re: V2 Interpenetrations - LF evading

So under v2 it seems to be really important to have your battle line just within 3MU of your LF skirmish line This part is correct. To keep LF safe, they must be able to reach the battle troops behind with a 3 MU move. The angle does not matter though, and only one base of the LF has to be within 3...

Re: V2 Printed proof approved!

I forgot to mention that I have part of an image missing: No you haven't. The left part of the diagram in the V1 rules related to partial interpenetration, which no longer exists, so that part of the diagram has been removed in V2. Here you can see the blue shade in the text. Unfortunately the pict...

Really ? Fragged, 25% casualties, Hpb and losing by 2 gives -5. Happens lots of times - probably at least once per game.

Re: Is V2 worthwhile?

It would be easy to incorporate some or all of the V2 changes if you want to try them out before buying. A pretty comprehensive list of the changes is here :

Re: Is V2 worthwhile?

If you are happy playing FOG1 and you are not playing in tournaments then I would say that it is not worthwhile. You may as well stick to FOG1 and save yourself the money.

Re: FoG Rules 2.0 Now Available as Printed Hardback Book!

Mine arrived yesterday. Similar to others, the edge of the cover of mine was dented due to poor packaging. The quality is pretty similar to V1 - in fact I think you'd struggle to tell the difference without comparing them side by side.

Re: Points frustration

So often you can be left with a large number of points wasted, which seems a bit unfair. I've got about 100 army lists saved on my computer that I have used, and I don't think I've ever wasted more than 5 points. That is not a "large number of points wasted".What army list are you looking at that y...

I would hope not. I would hope that anything in the FAQ would now be expicitly covered in the V2 rules.

Re: V2 Printed proof approved!

£32 is too much for me to spend on wargames rules (even if they have substantial changes over v1, which no-one has been able to assure me about). I accept others may be comfortable with it. It's your choice what you spend your money on. If you think something is too expensive, don't buy it. But aro...
