Re: Battle vs Morris

Allied Offensive: Combined Allied Air Power and French/BEF units kill a Panzer and nearly kill a Mechanized Unit. Total chaos in the Axis lines trying to reform to regain the initiative! The only thing we can do in answer is kill a Mechanized British Unit and French Army Corp. Thoughts: Allies are m...

Re: Battle vs Morris

1940: RAF/French Air Force and Luftwaffe do battle over Belgium for control over the tiny vassal. The goal uncertain... The BEF and Bomber Command arrives on the Continent to Scout and threaten German Ground troops. Meanwhile the Italians begin to see opportunity and are expected to arrive sooner th...

Re: Battle vs Morris

Stauffenberg,

Sounds like a good improvement. I enjoy a little flexibility so long as there is a fair chance on both sides and will play this out. There is so much to be learned from each player

Re: Battle vs Morris

Morris is certainly effectively using the BEF unlike a lot of players to do damage to the PPs of the Germans.(particularly with air and navy and keeping the morale high for the French/British) This is where it would help if the game had some historical accuracy like this, Belgian Army forces sabotag...

Battle vs Morris

I begun as Axis: 1939: 2nd Turn Poland and Denmark, skipping Norway altogether. I however stationed a DD off the coast of Denmark either to prepare for a possible Norway '39 and or move to raid(this was my first error) followed by some not so decisive actions. Stationing couple of air units in the N...

Re: Russia in 3.0GS is a Monster

I noticed how the oil situation really constrains some of the Axis operations. That a lot of thought has to go into where you station your units. Especially if you have some sort of Axis Sub Strategy or North African Campaign combo. There doesn't seem much of an incentive to go all out in North Afri...

I would be interested in a match. I would like to try my Axis vs you... I am learning fast with them and they're a great challenge. That or mirror

Re: Russia in 3.0GS is a Monster

Stauffenberg and Richard, I noted on my first two games both Axis and Allied how tough the Russians were. Although my Axis were very weak I only started with about 5 tank units/5 mechs if...and virtually no German Airpower which was all somewhere else...tons of Corps/Garrisons which did work early.....

Re: Russia in 3.0GS is a Monster

Stauffenberg, I am listening to your point of view. Perhaps you are one of the best players? That or played a few players that are not nearly as good as you are? I read through some AARs it doesn't seem possible in my opinion and in my first Allied Game ever in CEAW I am feeling no threats for a ver...

Russia in 3.0GS is a Monster

Russia in 3.0 GS is one hell of a Monster. I don't see how anyone could even dream of defeating this opponent except AI or poorly played. I think it might be more entertaining to thin her forces out some. Not saying that's not historical as the Germans arrived at the Gates of Moscow they had no idea...

Re: Norway and Sweden

Just shocked there is such low/or no PP value to places that had some industry. I see the purpose to the whole game to remove the focus on the Minors that typically in most other games get exploited a lot. So they remove all the PP value or value vs gain to keep this game a bit more historical and k...

Re: Norway and Sweden

It is a good point! Unless you have to defend it from an invasion anyway... Ironically I DOWed Switzerland as well, no political payback for the Germans? I hope they give partisans as well or cost benefit ratio is not favourable. That would have peed off the Americans or at least the World would hav...

Norway and Sweden

Just getting into the game but I have some very valid questions to begin with. Okay taking Norway is difficult, it cost and if the Royal Navy wants to make it hard depending on which scenario you use it could be painful. The supply of 1(from adjacent surface ship) is downright pathetic...so other th...

Re: Mods, Screen resolution

I have played Commander The Great War a lot..one of my favourite games of 2013.. This is like the Daddy of that, the interface is clunky, I have my resolutions at 1280X768 and to get a fair image I had to go upto 1600X900 pretty sure or around that. Although I cannot argue the price!!! 10 bucks this...

Re: Ending the war with USSR

Just started a book The Drive on Moscow: Operation Taifu and Germany's First Great Crisis of World War II by: Niklas Zetterling and Anders Frankson I found it fascinating how that the strategy for the real Operation Typhoon mirrored my own strategy in my last ToF game. Encircle Moscow, destroy as mu...

Re: Russian revolutions, making them right.

Suprass makes a great point, we have a mode where the 80% NM surrender is altered to 60%. I focused on France and Russia BOTH and right now it's nearly 1917 and I'm losing the game. Technically there is a gap for the Entente and maybe Russia doesn't have to be where that gap is filled. The point bei...

Re: Russian revolutions, making them right.

Finding that perfect level of balance is essential. The way the NM% is calculated is a little bit tough to incorporate correctly in the game even if you alter the scripts. For game play and for some realism I think a perfect balance must be struck here. Russia must be a potent force and also not be ...

How good is this?

I have enjoyed the Time of Fury/Time of Wrath interfaces. One of the designers of this game was an ole opponent I helped BetaTest this game with but at this point I have no actual concept of what the incarnation is like. How is the group of opponents? Dedicated? What's going on with this title? What...
