Re: Roman Fort near Yorkshire?

Hi everyone I'm trying to plan a day out for the children in the coming months. Does anyone know of a good roman fort within driving distance of Yorkshire? Also I heard there was a recreation of a roman fort but have been unable to locate it. Thanks for any help. Rob The NorthEast is stuffed full o...

Whether a single BG of cats is likely to be effective in an army is another matter though...I tend to think not, but there is no rule that says that armies always have to be put together with an eye on maximum competiveness. Good thing too, or most of mine would not be allowed on the table :) I fou...

KLUSZYN 1610 Piotre (5 games in total FoGR) in command of the Poles Alexinoff (1st try FoGR) in command of the Russians The battle took place on level ground, both flanks being somewhat protected by thick woods denying both sides of the opportunity to flank march. The Poles advanced at 5:00 am havin...

From what I've read (not much admittedly) most of the Russians were of very dubious ability, did not fight (only died in the rout) and are probably not worth representing on table.

Not unless you have a spare 20,000+ peasants :

The armoured ashigaru bow unit does not need to hide and the integral pavise allows modelling opportunities.

To be honest this is not one of the best armies out there for open competition, you will always be biting your nails during cohesion tests.
BUT it is pretty and one of my favourites

IMHO Dump the mounted Samurai altogether. Add in the Ashigaru Bow Unit Get Foot Samurai and 'Weak' Ashigaru Spearmen. The 'Weak' Ashigaru can be used as rear support for most of the rest of the army if you think they are too weak for the front line. Me I like getting stuck in with them. Maybe get so...

As Daves opponent last night I think I need to put the record straight. Things were not quite as Dave explained. Firstly and most crucially Light Horse FF were facing in the opposite direction to D and E, with their rear to my light horse C. By charging C at an angle (which was declared straight aw...
