Rather Frankensteinian, but one can cut the page out of the book, cut it in half, flip one half around and tape the halves together within a sheet protector to get the SOP page on one sheet. I don't think I need it all that much, but for new players the SOP is the most important thing to have befor...

Re: Mounted with jet packs!

Like most we've been experimenting with the various options and one of the most exciting (for all you aggressive players out there!) was the Hungarians. An all cavalry force with 4 TC's zooms around the board like you would not believe...............avoid the infantry and focus on the enemy horse w...

I hope to take part in 25mm - anyone else thinking of doing so? David Does that mean we have 2/3rds of a team? I'd prefer 15mm but could do 25mm at a push. Will Gary make up the numbers? As Sassanachs are we allowed to compete? As you know I spend a lot of my time north of the border! Bert (AKA Pet...

My observations were in relation to Eastern Armies and Cavalry not just LH. I suppose we will have to wait and see how the cavalry in for example Russian and Persian armies are organised! Also pistol shooting mounted must be allowed in 6 paks otherwise the three ranks shooting cannot be achieved unl...

After - admittedly not a huge number of games I am coming to the conclusion that Cavalry need to be in 6 paks as well as the LH. With 4 paks after one hit and a bad death roll you are testing every time you get hit thereafter and at -1 for 25% losses. You are soon doomed, or at the very least nullif...

Turks vs Safavid Persians Turks 50/50 Infantry / Mounted less armour but Superior and Elite Safavid (I know the list is not out yet) only three units of Infantry rest Mounted almost all Average. Both sides deployed Infantry to the center with Safavid very heavy on right flank with 5 units of Cavalry...

Try mustard colour - usually much thicker than the bright yellows.
If you must have bright then yellow ink on top of a bright (skull) white works well.

Vitriol Production line and a mind capable of taking time out required here I'm afraid if you want them done quickish. As other have said - dark undercoat, slap on the dark blues, browns, reds, greens, off white etc as you see fit, dry brush the metalics, dab on the flesh, then ink wash the whole lo...

From limited experience but across a fair range of armies (some invented whilst awaiting lists) LoA v LoA, Cossck v Hungarians, ECW Covananter v Caroline I have found that historical match ups result in close battles. Outside of this you can put up a fight but early armies with limited/no shot foot ...

Your welcome.......

and Good Luck - you will need it.

Eventually I bought a Macedonian Army - boy was it easier to play with.

Somewhile later Late Romans - even if you got everything wrong at deployment you could still win with these!

But I digress.

Franck West Sudanese was my first army some 29 years ago. Learnt a lot of hard lessons with this army over many years. Capable of winning big occassionally and losing a lot even when you do everything right. If I remember correctly: All troops should be Undrilled Lots of Archers - Medium Foot, Avera...

I think I have posted this elsewhere but ..... Played 2 games 25mm Early Caroline English vs Covenanter Both armies 450 points on a 6x4 table It really seemed enough to me, first game was in the open, second game maxed out on forests + a marsh and more. Really tricky both games I only just managed t...

Splendid. Need to buy some samurai (assuming that the renaissance samurai lists don't emasculate them as the Medieval ones). I must have bought the last Two Dragons Samurai mini's available a few weeks ago. Now painted and looking splendid (if I may say so) Probably the best looking army I have don...

An infinity ago in this thread someone mentioned HF deployed in a single line across the board to stymie the flank attacks of LH armies. And I've seen this tactic advocated elsewhere, by Roman Table Top Generals Now that kind of totally unhistoric deployment really has to be stopped. After all you p...

Re: Big v Little

What's the perceived view of those who have played the rules so far? Is big best or does the mobility of little BG's compensate for their lower CT threasholds etc. Bert Not as relevant a question as in FOGAM. In FOGR most BGs are of fixed size. Some lists have a choice between normal pike & shot an...
