Re: Making Messari Tougher

Heya, The portals are just configurations but don't increase the overall invasion strength. Even giving them more units will mean there drop less portals since it's adjusting to the factions' strength. However, one can control the invasion strength via the Alien Aggression and I'll add a setting to ...

Re: Steam Testing

Thanks a bunch guys, really couldn't do it without you. Tomorrow morning/midday another build will go live which will slightly reduce the variation in total invasion strength (to make it more consistent across games) and spread the deployment of portals over a few more turns so the whole thing is a ...

Re: Steam Testing

Re: Steam Testing

Alright guys the minimum forces of an invasion should be a lot more manageable now. Before, if players had no army left from waring, they couldn't handle it. Portals now come with different unit combinations, less storms, and storms now last 3 instead of 5 turns. Also, the warning now happens 20 ins...

Looks like we have to swing the nerf bat. Does either of you have a save before the invasion hits?

Re: Steam Testing

Hm, concerning world generation, four out of five tries with advanced settings actually gave me a temperate starting location (6 players, medium world size, continents). Did you guys use any special settings? We thought about coupling the invasion to an event (like reaching an era, average research ...

Re: meshes in xml form

I'm afraid not at the moment, but our artist said he'll write a short tutorial / offer a sample 3D studio file over the next days to illustrate how it's done. With a bit of programming knowledge one can see fairly easily how the format works by examining the script files or the mesh/animation files ...

Re: meshes in xml form

Hi guys, We indeed use a simple custom XML format for meshes and animations. Our artist works with 3D Studio Max, and runs those two Max scripts to export the data: Mesh Exporter: -- -- Mesh Exporter 2.0 -- Copyright (C) 2013 by Proxy Studios. -- All rights reserved. -- selectedObjects = selection a...

Re: What's next?

We always specify patch times in GMT. *cough* It's building atm, hope not too much is broken. There were a lot of underlying changes done to the terraforming system (opening the door for significantly stronger terraforming AI), which will need more cleanup and additions over the next days. We're als...

Re: What's next?

Hello, we weren't confident enough to push it out before the live event tonight due to the drastic pace changes caused by construction bays and field labs, but unless something unexpected comes up next week we should be good to go. Sorry for the delay!
