LH evading off table and armies with lots of BGs are related, converting off table BGs to 2 AP when the camp falls is IMO a nice one and will make life harder for massed LH armies but they are hardly dominiating the game at the moment are they? They are not dominating, but there is still the compla...

That said if you don't like 800 points on a 6 by 4 table you can always organise other point total and table size games. In the UK we have 900 point doubles (and that might creep back up to 1000) and also 650 point on 5 by 3 comps. There are only 2 650 point comps in the calendar at the moment but ...

Re: the resounding dullness of the 800 point game.

basically, never again. the table is too big, the armies too full of cheesy LH crap. either 650 starters on smaller tables, or maybe i'll just go play another ruleset. You're just old and tired. heh. pretty much. the issue is the old chestnut of min/max, rules lawyers, just like it was under DBM, a...

perhaps the PBI is little to do with which country the battle takes place in, and more to do with who decides which field you are going to fight it in. pretty much. in my experience boards with heavy central terrain are unusual though. i count myself unlucky to have to fight around swathes of rough...

Huns get steppe, but even then may lose initiative and end up in crap terrain. sooo... a bit like invading europe then? this is a historical game after all. fighting in adverse terrain is a real test of generalship. i should know, i've had a table covered in open fields that some english longbow us...

Yes the message it replied to has been edited too. 'Exploiter' was not the original word. I certainly meant what I said when I said it, but will remove it now again, i thought i was actually agreeing with you, hence the strong language. as you can see, i have edited in the interests of neighbourlin...

Could this not be a design feature so that horsey armies without steppes have a chance of getting fairly open terrain? \ actually i thought i was agreeing with you! but now you mention it, there is a feature to ensure horse armies get steppes. take steppes as the terrain type, and place a 16m...

Sorry, I don't understand, what is so wrong about using roads, rivers or light foot? I have at no point ever seen or heard anyone, on this forum or elsewhere, suggest that to do so is in anyway out of order. That's what this thread is all about. If I pay for an IC and get the chance to use both a r...

the Parthian ally list is seperate from the Selucid list so 1 Parthian general and 1 shot at the Parthian allies list which has the minimum and maximum listed and limits the total size of the allied force to whatever the maximums in the allies list is. Hope that was clear enough. that is exactly my...

I disagree. Where does it say, in general, that only one allied contingent of each nationality can be fielded? It states that an allied commander's contingent must conform to the maxima and minima in the allied list. Does this not refer to each allied commanders contingent. I can't find anything th...

Re: Figures for Arab Conquest

I have a small Arab Conquest army for BBDBA that I am looking to expand into an 800 point FOG Army. Looking at the Hinds Figures site there are various Arab figures available - are they all suitable? Do early Arabs use round shields (like most of the figures I have) or the the teardrop shields also...

Further more, have a look at the papal italian list (oath of fealty). There it states explicitly that two contigents of Italian allies can be fielded - hence it will be only one contigent where such a statement is missing. yes. one ally per list, unless the origin list states something like the Lat...

Well it depends whether you are playing in an open event or a themed event. in new zealand, so almost always open events. we discovered how freaking immoral LH armies were a long, long time ago. Ah yes, I played an immoral LH wielding Kiwi at Britcon (20 BGs, 17 of which were skirmishers). The Mero...

i think i recall this one too.

the judgement seemed to be that as long as you ended entirely outside the battleline, no worries about clipping a corner on the way out.

BUT, if your pivoting on a corner takes you through a BG outside the battleline you're starting with, then no.

I haven't tried them but my experience with superior armoured knights has not been a particularly good one. I think that in almost all situations I would prefer superior armoured cavalry to average armoured knights. That said I am not a huge fan of knights anyway. absolutely. they're more over-pric...

they're brittle as all hell. run them in 6s with 4 in front, two behind, and pick fights where you're up on impact.

that, or put a TC with them as soon as they're within shouting distance of anything at all.
