If you have an advanced 1.03 saved game then the change to 1.04 will probably put you in the red in money. We believe this is for the greater good though.

Free Upkeep is now always and only 'free upkeep up to x cost', which is 20-5-5. It is implemented in 1.03, but given that you had some "free upkeep" on 10+ units, the most experienced units were costing zero anyway.

But this has changed, with 1.04 "free unit upkeep" top at 20 money 5 metal and 5 manpower.

So you should feel more the sting of having experienced units.

I got the save, but a few days after the patch was closed for content, so the fix won't be in 1.04 alas. It is easy to do should you encounter the issue though. There is also always the choice to go down to Abyssinia for southern elephants (provincial)

A battle should not halt movement, I searched in the code and there is no such thing. What can stop movement is being repulsed by an army in opposed direction, being repulsed by local patrols, disembarking, losing intercept target. It's random, to not favor a faction over another, when each army moves one bit, then it is done in a random order. Then once everybody has moved one impulse, then battles check are done. It means that if your enemy moves before you, then he might disappear for a moment, and this can abort pursuit. O...

They are probably independent, this would explain both the fear-induced loyalty hit as Loki says, and the fact that independent and rebels always have full loyalty, it means they don't get rebels themselves (and can replenish easily).

Terrain frontages has been reworked. Part of the slots are now reserved to cavalry, but some terrains are bigger. For example before the patch, plain had a frontage of 12, now it had a frontage of 10+4

Sparta now starts with hoplites and can get phalangites at Civilization Level III, representing Kleomenes III military reform. They both provide a siege bonus also. Military buildings in province all counts now when you recruit. The ones in the capital count in full, and ALL OTHERS in others regions...
