Re: GSv2.10 Q&A Quiz Contest

Did you capture Sevastopol on turn 1 in your hotseat game? This is possible with an amphibious invasion, if the Allied does not place units around Sevastopol to block the Axis attacker.

Re: Clash of the Mortals -- For Allied Eyes Only

As the others already pointed the presentation of your AAR is great and its a good read too!

I wonder why your opponent still seems to want to get to Casablanca. I don't see any advantage for the Axis in this respect.

I think it is the transport with a GAR you sank a few turns ago.

Re: GSv2.10 Q&A Quiz Contest

I'm a little bit out of questions, so something easy. Rarely Sweden is invaded by the Axis. Why it is so? Sweden is already somewhat friendly with Germany by sending them iron ore income, so there is less reason for Germany to invade for income reasons. I'd imagine Sweden is also useful to Germany ...

Re: GSv2.10 Q&A Quiz Contest

Ok - what is the minimum number of cites the Allies must capture on mainland Italy in order to force an Italian capitulation? I assume that mainland Italy is neither Sardinia nor Sicily as they are Isles. Then the minimum number is 0, as it is sufficient to capture five of the following six cities ...

Re: Joe v. Morris Round II (Joe's AAR)

Did he really destroy two MECH and one INF? I don't think the fair weather is such a big advantage for the Axis. Yes, the Axis may make quicker progress, but during fair weather the Allied counterattacks also hurt much more. Furthermore, the Axis do not have air superiority if they go for a 1939 Bli...

What happens if the Allies DOW Turkey. Does Turkey get rail capacity from turn 1. If yes, then this would be a little bit unfair.

Re: FORTRESS EUROPA improved (no Diplomaticus)

Congratulations to this impressive victory. I would have never thought that his would be possible after Supermax conquered half of the world and a had a PP income of more then 200 PP. As Supermax already admitted, it was an error to waste oil in the east, instead of using his fleet to destroy or at ...

Where did all the German PP go? I only spot 3 FTR, 2 TAC and the starting 3 ARM and 2 Mech? With such a late Fall Gelb you can have 3-4 FTR and 3-4 TAC.

Re: Supply cost for Axis paras - Possible issue for GS 2.2?

I initially thought that German paras should cost NA supply points, but now I'm not so sure. German corps cost 1, while garrisons cost 0. I think we need to ask ourselves whether the supply needs for a para would be more similar to a garrison or a corps. I just don't know. :? Airborne divisions did...

Supply cost for Axis paras - Possible issue for GS 2.2?

In my current game with JoeRock I'm currently battling the British 8th Army in Egypt in 1941. I noticed that German paras can be transported and used in NA without any supply costs, i.e. they make a good addition to the Axis forces in NA if the Axis players intends to battle the British. We both won...

Impressive play on part of JoeRock. I would never have thought that he would win it until a few turns ago.

Its difficult to say what Morris did wrong, but I think he gave to much ground to quickly.

Re: Morris vs Joe Rock

With some luck you will get muddy weather the next few turns, then you should survive at least until April 1945. I even think you still have a very small chance for a draw, as it can take 2-3 turns to kill a well entrenched MECH in Berlin/Hamburg, but it is unlikely that this will happen.

Re: Proper Game etiquette -- or -- when is it ok to resign?

2. Players agree before hand that either can stop whenever they want. 3. If you're obviously losing and your opponent offers you a chance to stop. On the flip side, if the game has reached steady state and I'm obviously winning, I generally will offer my opponent the choice to stop or continue. Esp...

Re: FORTRESS EUROPA improved (no Diplomaticus)

Yes, Trieste counts. In fact I was in a very similar situation in a game against Diplomaticus (which I lost) and also lost Italy on the same turn, despite Italian forces in quite good shape. From my point of view it is impossible to properly defend Italy at this stage of the game (at least not to ke...

Re: FORTRESS EUROPA improved (no Diplomaticus)

Be careful with Foggia in southern Italy. It counts as surrender city. Same with Reggio.

You already lost Tirana, Triest, Tripoli (?). What about Tunis? If you lose Tunis and Foggia, Italy will be out of the war.

Re: How is CEaW as a single player game?

I agree with gsmart04 and richardsd. The AI is not good, but it is still fun to play against the AI and a good way to learn the game. I would say CEaW is a good single player game, but it is a better PBEM game. You will get a lot of playing hours/days against the AI. Contrary to richardsd I always t...

That is one advantage, but there are more. partisans as well after that I have no idea Correct, a German partisan may spawn in Danzig (which is a German city controlled by Poland at the start of the game) if you get really lucky. Such a a free unit is a nice bonus for the start, but it will only ha...
