Re: FoG:AM v3 Lost Lists

Same could be applied to the Zhou, possibly increasing the number of Average infantry allowed. Making sure the compulsory Poor are in BGs with an 8 base minimum helps with filler issues. So at the moment for the Eastern Zhou there are 12-64 bases of dagger-axe men and supporting archers, of which 0...

Re: FoG:AM v3 Lost Lists

it looks like the numbers of poor 'conscript' troops have been reduced in the v2 lists (up to 20) compared to the v1 lists (up to 64 IIRC) - is it a general rule to reduce numbers of poor troops to stop too much lower points value 'filler' being taken? Basically, yes. Also Poor light troops are alm...

Re: FoG:AM v3 Lost Lists

Yes thanks very much for this Nik. I note that the chariots have been amended to be average by default with an option to upgrade a proportion to superior - is that a generally applicable rule where version 1 lists had the equivalent troops as superior by default? Also one other thing I noted in the ...

Re: FoG:AM v3 Lost Lists

Having just received the 1st army list book I was a bit disappointed to see that three of the armies I own no longer have a list (somewhat offset by one of my armies getting a bit of a boost), so I guess I'll need my own lists for friendly games (I'm assuming they'll be right out for competitions so...

Re: Nestor's Spearmen

Well, here's how I raised mine a couple of years ago including the two units of Nestor's spearmen as Phil suggested. Dismounting some of the charioteers and using Achilles' Myrmidons gives some punch. http://www.wessexwargamessociety.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?tid=16 Thanks very much for this, I'v...

Re: Breaking Off

I don't think that you're obliged to charge the same enemy, but if the cavalry are shock troops and the enemy are still in charge range in the cavalry's next impact phase, they'd need to test for charging without orders (unless they declared one themselves). Otherwise they can charge any other eligi...

Re: Britcon 2016 12-14 August 2016

Just like to add my thanks to the organisers for putting this on, it must be a lot of work and need superlative cat-herding skills. Although I lost every game I had a good time losing them to deserving opponents, and learnt a lot from them. It was also great to be able to get a decent number of game...

Re: Roll Call 2016 Open for bookings

Hmm, given that the 15mm competition theme is "The Armies & Enemies of Medieval Islam", would it be possible to have T'ang China as a permissible army, ala the battle of Talas river (751 AD)? Or is there too little historical interaction to include them?

Re: Terrain on a Budget

Well, a few years ago I stockpiled a load of wood that I was going to lovingly sculpt into detailed and beautiful terrain of all kinds. Then I found a bit of old carpet and a doormat, chopped it up into the relevant sizes and thought to myself 'this will do in the meantime'. I put stones (from the g...

Re: Cheese for Sung Chinese?

Thanks very much for the above clarifications, sorry I didn't acknowledge sooner.

I might give them a run out in that format though I don't hold out much hope for them, be good to shake the dust off them and save me rebasing!

Cheese for Sung Chinese?

Just wondering about this, since Sung Chinese were mentioned in a recent(ish) thread about what new figure ranges ancients wargamers might like. In the Sung Chinese list, the infantry are ‘mixed’ MF crossbow types with half having crossbow plus light spear and the other half crossbow only . After 10...

Looking for a good ' Protected ' 15mm classical Indian figure as mine look very ' Unprotected '. Re: Britcon 2015 - 8/9th August, Manchester, UK

Just a quick note to say I had a great time at my first Britcon (and first FoG competition) with 6 entertaining games in very a friendly atmosphere. It was really nice to get some good solid gaming in over a full weekend. Many thanks to the organisers for putting this on - I hope to make it next year.

KR multicases - trays suitable for 15mm FoG figures

I was considering purchasing some storage cases from KR multicases (http://www.krmulticase.com/default.aspx) - does anyone here use these for storing/moving FoG based figures, and if so, which of the trays on offer are most suitable for the different troop types? I have the full range of FoG troop t...

Re: Khurasan seeks input on new army

I've decided to go with Song Chinese, as that was the most frequent recommendation on the DBMMlist, where I got the most feedback. Hmmm, nice - what sources of inspiration will you be using for your figures ? I already have a 'Song' army, but this has been cobbled together from various Ming/Yuan ra...
