Standards for the Sultanate of Aleppo - 1100 AD

I am currently working on a Field of Glory campaign set in Northern Syria during the time right at the end of the 1st Crusade. For control markers, I am working with 1" diameter wooden medallions I picked up at Hobby Lobby and plan on painting the symbol of the controlling faction. With that said, d...

Re: SETUP and DEPLOYMENT

Honestly I think not know who goes first requires you to plan better and makes you better at playing the game overall. Just my 2 cents. Which surely makes for better tournament results if the better play is rewarded My thoughts exactly. V2 went too far in punishing shooty cav armies causing them to...

Re: Soft sand

I like the way this guy on Fanaticus did his and they look really easy but have yet to get one to turn out close to his.

Re: Soft sand

I am working on trying to use low sand dunes to represent soft sand. Have not been really happy with the the way the few I have done have turned out but will try again.

Re: Archer bases

In the Bronze Age, you have to then think about all of the shooting that will be had in period. Very few MF archer units are protected in period so that has to be a consideration and then 8s would be preferable.

Re: Archer bases

I have used them both as 6s and 8s. The extra dice as an 8 pack will sometimes give mounted opponents pause. Unless you are being charged by knights and then you get what you deserve by making them a savory target. :)

Re: FOGAM3

The whole point of going with 300 and using the Ally Lists is it forces the player to think about core troops and not the exotics. I have kept BG sizes the same and adjusted the terrain (max size as well as number of pieces). New players want something that lets them easily get into the game with mi...

All of my cats are based 4 to a stand. Does not help them fight any better but they still look nice.

One hour and a half max.

I am using the ally lists so there is nothing else book wise a player would need.

Re: FOGAM3

At the moment, I am working on 2' x 2" with reduced options for terrain and adjustments to set-up. Most everything is the same as the base rules.

Re: FOGAM3

I've been working on a fast play version of FOG for a while. It uses 300 points and uses the Ally lists for building armies. Still a work in progress and very rough. PM me if you would like more info.

Re: AARs

While on the surface #1 might seem like the way to go, by making everything move faster, HF would then move just as slow as they move now relative to everything else. Granted it is not something I have played so I am speaking without an data to back up my thoughts. What this does do is make the boa...

Re: AARs

I like #3 and I think it will have a bit more of the effect we are looking for towards increasing the risk of loosing generals along with the change in the roll for generals to die. Not sure I understand #2 and my French is worse than your English so no offense is intended. While on the surface #1 m...

Re: MOVEMENT

HF are only going to get to double move once in the current proposal w a half competent opponent. LF Skirmishes start at 18" and end up at 23" in w a full move. HF start at 12" and get an 8" move in the first move w a general so they are now 20" in. The HF and LF are now only 5" apart on a 4' table.
