I don't see any problem with turning and walking away, but I'd prefer to see a CT to stop doing so. When you are walking away from some scary guys with big sticks it's a lot easier to keep on walking than to stop and turn round

Re: light horse

Ok Dave, how do you deal with light horse (using macedonians or persians for example since they historically should get to do so)? Let me add to Dave's list almost any army with drilled MF in numbers. Dailami armoured superior are easy. But the Chinese armies with protected average 2nd rank bow or ...

Gents, I haven't played in a competition for 25 years, so I have no knowledge or experience concerning trends or phases with dominant army types. I would like someone with more relevant experience to possibly answer this one - is the perceived problem with LH/skirmisher type armies one that is confi...

Thanks for all the replies, I had looked at Tim's site before posting the question, but missed the comparison photos, which, as noted above, really are worth a thousand words.

Testudo/Xyston compatability ?

Can anyone help re Testudo figures, size-wise, since they are now available again. I've got a good bit of a Gallic/Galatian Army done with Xyston - more than happy with the figures done, but looking for even more variety. The pictures I've seen of the Testudo figures seen to be well proportioned and...

If there is a question of balance with the Early/Mid Republican Romans, should there be an option for the 1st Class to still be armoured after 450? I was under the impression that the Greek Hoplite became lighter through a combination of factors, not least of which was a gradual reduction in the abl...

I've been watching your website for a while, I wish you the best with these, they look stunning in the undercoated and painted versions.

6-8 HF before 328BC. Ok, glue applied, I've gone with 6 bases of HF and shaved off some bases elsewhere to get another (going with a 6 of Hw) Thracian MF bg, so whilst we are here, would we look for the 2nd Thracians to be Off Sp or Lt Sp sw?

Thanks for the replies so far; I'd kind of made up my mind that I wouldn't use the Hypaspists as Pike (got this ingrained idea of them being the link between the phalanx and the cavalry from somewhere  but fancy having them in the army (with Philip/Alexander as OIC) so the choice is either HF ...

Yet another Macedonian Query

My last Ancients gaming was a few years ago (WRG 5th) but I've been tempted enough by FoG to have a go. I'm about to start off with an Alexandrian Macedonian army, and have been trawling through the older threads to gather ideas. My initial thoughts included a bg of Hypaspists as MF Off Sp, but none...

TimeCast are importing OldGlory15s, their site says Napoleonics and ACW are in, but I didn't get the impression from reading it that those were the only ranges they intend to import, an email would sort it out though.

Shield Swapping - Xyston to Corvus Belli

Gents, just dipping back into Ancients for the first time since about 1980, and looking to start off with a return to the first army I ever played with, Carthaginians, using Corvus Belli figures. I fancy the look of the LBMS shield transfers, but they don't yet have CB Carthies. I understand that CB...
