Re: Light Horse - how many generals?

I'm going to be trying out a Skythian army and I'm considering 3x FCs Which should work quite well - and you have the option of a +1 flank march should you need it. Of course for the same points you could have an IC and 2 x TCs. Personally I find an IC very valuable - especially if you're going to ...

Light Horse - how many generals?

Has the v2 changes in command and control given any change in the perceived number and "quality" of generals in a Light Horse army?

Re: Can't turn wont turn

Having read and re-read this thread, book in hand, I've come to my decision - better make it 98% v 2%

Re: Players in Stirling (Scotland)

There is a strong club in Stirling, but as far as I know they are fantasy only. For historical games, the nearest will be Falkirk, where are several FoG players. Search on Falkirk District Wargames Club or send Alan a message as above.

Thanks, so in essence it's a Tercio without the advantage of the extra shooting to the side.

Re: Keils - Official Discussion Thread

Does a later Keil with shot wings count the disadvantages of being flank charged if the shot wing only is the part subject of the flank charge?

What if the shot wing is contacted and the charger steps forward and also contacts the pike section?

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

Could this be dealt with satisfactorily by an additional bullet in the Interpenetrations section: - Any troops can pass through uncontrolled artillery perpendicularly from back to front or front to back only. ? Note that the restriction on direction is to prevent long distance teleportation (as it ...

Testudo Musketeers

Dear All,

Following on from titanu's Cuirassier request, I am 10 musketeers short to complete my last BG of P&S, so if anyone has an odd bag of these chaps left and wants to move them on then please let me know.

TIA

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

Erm, probably ... as in, any time that crew-less guns did not function as any sort of obstacle ... Visions of oscillating artillery now fill my head: Ooh look! There's some foot approaching; let's not function as an obstacle. Oh no! There's also some mounted; let's become an obstacle. This is silly...

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

Thanks Pete, If you shoot the gunners dead the guns don't just disappear, but they are removed from play; if you get enough shooting casualties on a 2 base artillery BG and fail the death roll they similarily vanish and don't effect anybody's movement even though the guns are still there, but if you...

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

If a BG of Artillery with 3 bases gets shot at, casualties are caused and the death roll is failed, what happens with the "dead" base?

I've never seen artillery in 3s, but they are allowed, and I'd think that the base would just be removed as a normal casualty would?

Re: The wholly unofficial points revision sticky …

I'm largely in favour of all those suggestions, except the Horse/Cavalry balance. My view is that I'd reduce the Cavalry cost rather than increasing that of the Horse, simply because that would make all the 16th century Average Horse too expensive for what they are. English demi-lancers and the like...

Re: Determined Horse over-priced ...

On reflection, and working on the premise that the points values can't be changed, I am now of the opinion that the best option would be to allow DH/Gdm/Cavaliers with sword to be ++ on overlap. The 2 dice per overlap file is initially more attractive, but that would make FA Gendarmes better against...

Re: Light Artillery

One of my regular opponents uses Late TYW German and always takes 2 light guns as the least expensive option as he reckons he can't hit anything with guns anyway  but other than that I've never seen them used. I would suggest that the range is the issue. IF the consensus is that they need look...

Those would still autobreak on being reduced to 1 base as all 2 base BGs do.
I was thinking about 4 base LH units reduced to 2 bases and being nearly impossible to catch.

Replace captured artillery with marker bases and allow any troops to pass through them.

Re: Determined Horse over-priced ...

I've stopped playing with my Poles, I'm starting to resent 23pts a base Hussar units getting duffed over by stuff that costs approx. a third less. I've tried using my later Spanish with Superior DH, but am firmly of the opinion that it is a much stronger army with the Superior HA Horse, so my prefer...

Re: Impassibility of captured artillery to mounted

If the prefered game scale was the regiment (BG) as the manouvre element then I can see the argument for capturing artillery (and re-using it). That isn't the game scale that's supposed to be being represented, so I'm in the "take them off" school of thought, unless we are going to come clean and ad...

20mm TYW Flags

Gents,

Has anyone seen these flags in the flesh and can advise on their dimensions, especially on the fly?

http://kamar-zinnfiguren.de/catalog/pro ... anguage=en

I want to use them with Testudo figures, and the flag pole will take up to 22mm on the fly.

Thanks

Re: Can Non-shock MF with light spear charge without CMT ?

Just out of interest, are there any SHOCK troops whose front rank has bow, longbow, crossbow or firearm. Highlanders, for example are Shock (Impact Foot) but have Bow*, not Bow. Anyone know of anyone who are Shock AND Bow/Longbow/Crossbow/Firearm? Perhaps it was just put in there for completeness. ...
