Re: Light Lance Vs Heavy Lance

To be fair a more obvious discrepancy is Cavalry armoured superior light lance swordsmen 15 pts Horse armoured superior light lance swordsmen 13 and the cavalry have more minuses for being shot at so if we are changing things cheers Alasdair Cavalry armoured superior light lance swordsmen 15 pts Ho...

Re: Testudo miniatures

Not at the moment and no, other than 2nd hand or ebay to answer your questions. The range has been sold to Khurasan in the USA. Jon has plans to get them into production, but I don't think that will be anytime soon from what he said the last time I asked him, as he has a load of other projects to ge...

Tupi - Army List Spreadsheet error?

I've been looking at the Tupi list, and the line for "Warriors" shows the points cost as 7. Checking the appendix on costs I get to 7 as well (ave/unarmoured 4; bow* 1; Imp ft 1; HW 1). All the versions of the spreadsheets I've got saved, and the Little Army Builder app show the cost for the warrior...

Re: Army List Spreadsheet

No, I've just been through all of these things myself! Incidentally, I've just started trying this one: http://www.littlearmybuilder.com/lang/en/ It doesn't do Copy and Paste but the way it handles the multi-part BGs is good. Thanks for the hint on the Little Army Builder, I've been giving it a whi...

Later TYW Swedes minima query

In the notes on Page 55, it says that the * minima applies if any non-allied foot other than musketeer only German units or commanded shot are used. Does the non-allied bit apply to the French available from 1637 to the Weimarians only, or does it include any standard pike and shot units from either...

Re: khurasan releases Qing (Manchu) Chinese

My figures arrived yesterday, I've just managed have a good look at them, and have to say that they are superb. Well Done, I'll be getting a good few more in due course.

Re: khurasan releases Qing (Manchu) Chinese

The line has been very well received so far, so I've asked Mike to make the cannon and crew. He's making Early Henricians for me now but I'm hoping he can sneak that in with the latest Henrician code (demilancers). Good  I've already made a small order, I'm glad I did so, and I will be making ...

Re: khurasan releases Qing (Manchu) Chinese

To show that I've have actually been thinking about this range  I'd use the mounted command for a foot BG and double base one stand with the 2 mounted figures and 2 foot, That way you get to spread out the spearmen figures more evenly, and the spare bowmen can be Green Standard skirmishers. Yo...

Re: khurasan releases Qing (Manchu) Chinese

K.M. I've read some of your thoughts about figure production and the associated costs/returns on TMP (and I sympathise totally as my wife is in a similar situation with her sideline). I am also really tempted by the figures, but I'm in the camp of holding off until I can see the complete range. Not ...

Not sure about the top picture, but the bottom one does show 15mm - Sassanids by Tony Barton, ABs sold by Fighting15s in the UK and Eureka elsewhere. Pretty stunning paint job.

Mid Rep Romans - Internal Ally.

Looking for confirmation here, if I take an internal ally for a MRR army, I can have up to 32 bases of Princeps/Hastati (in total - 16 in "main" army and 16 for the ally) upgraded to superior as veterans?

Re: Suggested amendments

But the issue wasn't just about winning tournaments - it was also that the way the list was constructed, no-one was using Swedes historically. The Swedish Brigades used to stand off and shoot (rather than getting stuck in) and the commanded shot supported the foot and acted as mobile gun platforms ...

Re: BHGS Challenge - 6/7 April 2013

The CS change is very neat; but I am not sure about the removal of the armour. It might stop ahistorical use by some tournament players, but it strikes me as the tail wagging the dog, a strong response to an non-existent problem. It is a problem, even if only in tournaments, but if you really don't...

Anyway, as I say, this change is the result of long consideration, we feel it improves historicity and game balance. The CS change is very neat; but I am not sure about the removal of the armour. Re: Lurkio next range

I'd buy a Late 16th Century army in the correct costume in a heartbeat, actually probably 2, one for each side. As noted above, many of the figures would be pretty universal. Apart from Grumpy's, I'm not aware of any Landsknechts in plunderhosen, and no Gendarmes/Cuirassiers in cassock at all.

Re: Commanded shot - how best to use it ?

However, if Lady Luck does go against you, you will very quickly lose the mounted and commanded shot BG's I set up a 4 unit defensive wing (2 horse and 2 commanded shot) and very quickly lost 4 BG's to 2 Determined Horse!! Don That's my predominant experience as well. You usually need 5s to hit wit...

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

Kushan can mix elephants and cataphracts in decent numbers; the only time I've tried it they treated 5 BGs of superior legions as speed bumps :|
