Re: Stalingrad Docks - Arrghh!!

Don't know, those Russian fighters can be scripted anywhere and fight till they run out of fuel if they don't have airfields. Destroyed units cannot be reformed until next battle.

Re: Stalingrad Docks - Arrghh!!

Great comments. The other winning main strategy is to concentrate your deployment and attack in the northern half of the map where your Fighters and Stukas have easy ability to refuel at the airfields there. You will concentrate your units -- infantry backed by artillery and your best armor on clear...

Re: Stalingrad Docks - Arrghh!!

Oh...sink the damn river boats too. They are there to spot any unescorted bombers which they attack mercilessly from airfields on the eastern shore of the Volga.

Re: Stalingrad Docks - Arrghh!!

A critical factor is flying your strategic bombers out over the northern (safe) city and be refueled from and operate from the northern air bases. The strat bomber operates out over the Volga sinking the many troops, conscripts, SMG and Guards coming into the city that way. You may have to splurge a...

Re: Exiting unneeded units.

No need to totally exaggerate the possibility of exiting a unit and bringing in a substitute unit. This might be limited to ONE or TWO units per battle and may be linked to (as I said in an earlier post) a higher echelon medal award. Require the exiting unit to exit from a city hex and you can even ...

Re: Exiting unneeded units.

Wouldn't it have been great to be able to exit one or more units, especially if badly weakened and then substitute and make active and bring into the game standby full-strength units. That would have been an ideal thing to add as a patch to say 1.40 but alas, no, we're going to get 3D units instead....

Re: Patch 1.40

I understand the other options.
Calling insanely erratic and devastating "normal" is wrong, period. Howzabout "very abnormal random." Haha.
Yet in West '42-'45, Allied counterattacks were often very devastating. Someone should collect data on that.
Let me know when it's fixed....

Re: Patch 1.40

I just replayed (again) Grand Campaign from beginning through '42-43 to '45 West. Easy setting: Colonel. The "normal" combat setting, I have concluded, is insanely erratic with totally totally unexpected and devastating results. A 12-strength 2-star Tiger II attacks British infantry 10-strength 1-st...

Re: M4s & Shermans

Called "Tommy cookers" by the Germans, and "Ronson lighters" by US/Brit crews for the resulting gasoline fireball when hit by enemy action. what's the point anyways of writing this ? 1) Historical interest 2) Relief from pages of boring data 3) Actual Sherman battle deficiencies 4) Gallows humor 5)...

Re: M4s & Shermans

Thats actually a myth. they didnt called them Ronsons.. (37:40) Shermans were actually one of the most survivable tanks out there, especially with introduction of Wet Stowage for ammunition. in 90% of hits, it was the ammo that caused tank to burn, not the fuel... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN...

Funny you should mention the V3 Horten 229.
I believe the Smithsonian has an active restoration (lots of pics), and someone in Germany restoring one too.
You can even watch jet-propelled models fly on YouTube.

Yes!
"By your command" ("Lucifer," head Cylon Base Star robot).
Then finish off the now surrounded 13-strength 3-starred Russian KV-85 with a mounted infantry unit forcing "surrender," and 40 prestige.
Tear off your helmet, and run wildly and naked around the HQ command post flailing your arms.

Re: Just casual talk about infantry, grenadier and volksstur

Check out the **higher ammo** on Gebirgsjäger, especially the mid/late war heroed ones with say +2 defense (initiative, etc.). I use them overstrengthened in cities at battle starts, they quickly become entrenched, almost invulnerable, to slow, channel or deflect an attack. This surrounded high ammo...

Strategic bomber critical against Russian engineers and bridging units, heavy tanks and anti-tank, bunkers and Guards infantry, with **AA capability.** The strategic bomber should suffer no losses but suppresses the unit and reduces its movement and ammo and often times this pins the unit for next t...

Re: How is US corps?

Cap'njack makes some good points! There are some critical factors in your unit mix in US Corps and tactics to avoid what I call "prestige starvation." The way to do it is to compose two or three spearheads composed of three or four experienced full-strength top-of-the-line upgraded TANK DESTROYERS t...

I wish you guys would use screen captures (so easy) or videos (better).
Talking about strategy and tactics, good, all the nitty-gritty details, bad. I don't read them.

Re: Panzer Corps 2

I'd like to see some aspect of player control of weapon production if there's any re-do of campaign tracks. It's not well known that the Axis badly underestimated Russian tank production-- numbers and advanced types. They did not have enough medium tanks (PzIII and IV) to start the war and had to re...

Re: Patch 1.40

Recently, I (and many others!) made excellent suggestions how to improve PC when asked directly by Staff, then most of us were very disappointed when few of these excellent suggestions and fixes were carried out for the latest patch(1.30). Hopefully, they'll show up in PC II, but I make the cynical...
