Since Si is (i) a very good gamer and (ii) has indeed played Graham Evans using that sort of army I think he is fully aware of what is going on - more than you are I expect. Also as he said that it was a matter of them (the writers) picking an interpretation I think you're making an issue of someth...

As with many non game-critical items I think one can make a decent case for either, it really us just a matter of us picking one for consistency in tournaments. I am personally pretty ambivalent on it. Ok, this is basically just an absurd point. If you think playing against an 18 Battlegroup Domina...

Dan, I think this is a wonderful idea. Just make a thread for all these types of things that can either stand in for a FAQ until one gets released, or like you mention above, just a basic list of things they think are obvious that people might question. A place to go for the author's intent if you w...

In another thread, I warned that going strictly by the RAW was going to become an issue, and it is starting to look like I was right. By the RAW the move is perfectly legal, but the Author thinks its a silly idea. That doesnt sound like he is willing to FAQ, or errata these kinds of rules. While I a...

Column bonus for battle line?

Ok, question came up in a game today. xyz xyz xyz xyz 3 Seperate units, all in column, and all in side edge, or battle line if you will. Can they use a general, and gain the extra inch of movement during a march move? I am unsure what the rules say, but surely this wasnt the intent. Basically in dif...

FWIW my sense is that large armies of evaders tend to survive quite well due to the evade of table option, but also tend to struggle to win big often as well. I find the balance quite decent at present. This..... I think when the people that use horse armies exclusively start running into opponents...

Any tidbits on the Viking list? Is it going to be playable, in other rulesets it didnt live up to my expectations, so here's hoping.

Actually, in the game where this happened, the routers would have ran into a friendly unit and burst through them if they were required to turn and flee, if they were allowed to wheel, they would avoid the friendly target. So it isnt quite the same thing, or cant go either way. What is needed, is a ...

Marc,

I think he is asking for evade purposes. What direction could they evade in if kinked, and charged in a way that they could choose to evade to their rear.

Oh yes. Good maneuvering by one player to set up on the flank of shock troops, who then fail their CMT not to charge enemy to their front. Twisted Evil One could argue that it was still poor planning by the guy with the shock troops, as he didnt cover his flank, and allowed this to happen. Of cours...

Intercept charges aren't supposed to be about tricking your opponent into making a mistake. They are meant to be about troops being in the right place to intervene to aid their friends or counter an enemy charge completely. Well, technically, they are supposed to be a deterrent I guess, but thats n...

Intercept charges and direction of charge are at the option of the player. I think Richard's point is not that you should point out possible intercept charges. It's more that they are fairly obvious so they kind of point themselves out. But thats exactly what the rules say you must do. If they poin...

Is that better or worse than being required to tell your opponent that he is about to make a mistake? Right now the advantage lies with the attacker, because he can hide what he is doing, but if the defender has a surprise, or missed intercept, then he is obligated to call it to the attention of the...

Is there a real reason that you dont just declare direction at the time of declaring charges? I really can't find one, I believe it would make everything flow a little better during that phase of the game.

I am not a designer, but your proposal favors the defender over the charger, and makes it easier to charge with troops that require a CMT. In your example, if the enemy LH can wheel to avoid the Cv while contacting the same number of bases, it can do so, so your ingenious trap was not so foolproof....

Ok, I know I dont have pictures, and maybe I am not being clear enough. In the instance I was part of, he could turn and charge at a slight angle, so his 2 bases still touched my 2 LH bases, but since the 2nd base was stepping forward at an off angle, it did not touch my cav base. I will go work on ...

No pretty paint type pics, but basically; There were 2 BGs of LH facing off, slightly offset. I had Cav 3.9 inches right in line with my LH, wich put a small amount of his LH front edge directly in front of my Cav base. The charge was declared by his LH onto my LH. At that point, there was nothing t...

Direction of charge.

Ok, had an interesting game last night where a rules question arose that wasnt concluded. The FAQ says that you only really have to declare a charge direction if there are possible intercept charges. In the game in question, I did not ask for the direction of the charger, so as not to alert him to m...
