I plan on basing my French peasants with a different number of figures for each base, hopefully it'll give it a more "mob" like feel. Example, first base gets five figures, second base gets six figures, third base gets seven, then eight, then back to five again. That sounds good. I've held similar ...

Re: BG or TC

so i've an army i pushed up to 14 BG. trouble is, it's mostly average troops, so it will need decent command and control. my question is whether to lose one small BG of 6xXB undrilled and pick up a TC, or to keep the XB and use it for the purpose god intended. flank support. I've just decided to ta...

request voice of experience MF vs HF

Hi All, I've been toying with the idea of MF instead of HF where I have the option. I know there is a disadvantage for MF in the cohesion test, but I'm wondering how big this is. I mean, the advantage of being able to fight in the more difficult terrain can be HUGE. My idea being that if you have en...

3rd Rank Archers

Hi All, I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on anything with 3rd Rank LF archers... (for example Roman Infantry with 2 ranks of Legionaries and a third of Legionary Archers). So far as I can tell they only shoot against non foot in the Impact phase (I.E. they add one dice per, thus the above descr...

I have a fair number of 10mm (Chariot by Magister Militum), very nice figures and I'm currently getting close to a full numidian army of them. I tend to play against other 10mm armies rather than 15s. I do use more troops per base as otherwise bases look a bit sparse: http://www.fanaticus.org/DBA/a...

Re: Basing Basics

I'm brand new to Historicals. What do you use to base these models? Like, what material? Are there any pre-fab bases out there that use the measurements for FoG? Both 15mm and 28mm scale would be nice to know about. I haven't yet decided which I prefer though I'm leaning towards 15mm... Thanks! Dun...

10mm figures

Hello All, I've bought myself a batch of 10mm AIM figures. For their size they are very nice. I've even based up a few Light Horse and they look absolutely fantastic. Better than anything 15mm IMHO. To me they look like they are 'doing their thing'. You can position the figures better to be able to ...

How did you go with Two Dragon? I have a bunch of Two Dragon Vikings and would like to increase my Hird.

Any luck?

You have it right, but note: THe distance restriction applies to ALL enemy battlegroups that can see any base of the deployed ambusher BG. Bases can be closer to an enemy BG if they are not visible to it. If the nearest part of an enemy BG was its corner, then the first ambusher base placed need no...

A reasonable rationale, but I'm not sure it is needed. The rule that bases after the first can't be closer to any enemy BG to which it would be visible, together with the rule that any bases not legally placed are lost, should make sure that no base placed after the first would be visible to the en...

Ambushers

Hello all, The rules for setting up an ambush seem quite straight forward. My regular opponent and I came across a situation which we tossed around for a little while and came up with a believable explanation, but would like some feedback from the forum. I deployed some skirmisher (Cretian archers) ...

Re: Cavalry can't catch Light Foot?

Hello, The other day I witnessed a first game between the Later Carthaginians and Late Republican Romans, using the starter armies for each respective list. Anyway, on one flank a unit of Carthaginian cavalry was facing a unit of Roman slingers, in open terrain. Naturally they charged... the slinge...
