Well then fully plate armored knights being used as Crusaders should also not bother you than. Since my favorite armor is Gothic style plate. Much more "Mean" than Maximillian or silly old chain mail. I don't know what, about my posts, would indicate to you that I would care what figures you use. Y...

Evading Chariots

Can Light Chariots that are in 2x2 formation evade?

Sorry, I know I could look it up, but I haven't got my rules on me.

However, I've never seen anyone complain about people (in ancients) turning up with out of period figures Lived a sheltered life have we? Don't think so... although perhaps Aussies are less bothered by this than our American/British cousins. In pretty much every convention I've attended to date the...

Sashimono are late, in the sense that they are out of period late. I'll run what I like, and not be particularly bothered by comments to be honest.

May as well play fantasy if you are not going to at least try and use accurate figures. There are enough ranges on the market to at least make an effort. It is historical miniatures wargaming after all. D Interesting to hear you say that Dazzler - especially in light of the 'Persian' comments on th...

Once again some of you guys are missing the point. If people want to show up with Samurai figures which are 100 to 200 years out of date than there should be no one complaining if My 3rd Crusaders knights figures are from the Great Italian Wars. No I for one, have not (and I don't think anyone here...

If STEADY is the start state of all troops, is it not okay to call all the other degraded states UNSTEADY? Yes, there are two states in one way of talking - steady and unsteady, but that doesn't necessarily clarrify whether their spear/pike works or not - you need to further clarify whether they ar...

Re: hmmm

Okay, I think I see that. Basically: 1) unsteadiness takes POAs away from spear guys v. everybody 2) unsteadiness makes MF more likely to fail cohesion tests v. mounted 3) unsteadiness takes away dice from everybody v. all opponents 4) unsteadiness gives all enemy sword guys POAs against you No, yo...

Unless that same MF is spearmen... death to MF spearmen when they disrupt vs lancers!

Yeah, I don't suppose there was much of a surprise when Caesar bridged the Rhine! It's not like he would have done that in a matter of minutes.

It depends, for starters being disrupted means losing dice, that applies vs. mounted and foot. After that it depends on how the infantry and the mounted are equipped. Assuming the mounted have lance and/or swordsmen capability and the foot is armed with either spears or pikes having the foot disrup...

I'd argue, for what it's worth, that ten or fifteen years in difference for uniforms, or having to substitute one uniform for another when doing a historical scenario is different from, say, using a Late Roman legionary to fight Cannae. I don't see any difference at all. That same 10 or 15 years of...

Hi Blatherguts... after seeing your pictures I've revised my opinion. I think it's less cheesy than I originally thought. I would never have had a problem with it, but would have 'rolled my eyes' probably, but mostly because the way it was described it sounded like 'trying to get something out of th...

The Britons and terrain dissuaded the Romans from landing at Dover. When Caesar sailed on, the British chariots and cavalry were able to keep up with the fleet and oppose the landing. It seems fighting did occur on the shore until the Romans fought their way ashore with the help of shooting from th...

I bought all my French in shako and habit long since a older uniform would always be in use lare but not the other way. You would never consider playing a game from the revolutionary period then? I'm just assuming this from your earlier posts. Your style has been 'buy a second army'. All you have t...

I would have to say most likely not since most naval actions seem to have taken place out on the water. Even if it involved a large invading army like the Persians. Not sure how much resistance the Romans would have had when they were out scouring the Mediterranean for pirates. They did have to go ...

of course it would be a lot easier and would have caused less disagreement on the list if you just hadn't blown the death roll.

Next time just roll higher!

I'd vote it acceptable cheese.

I think you'll get a lot of 'rolls of eyes' etc, but perfectly ok to do :D ... just a little on the smelly side  .
