Dave, Not sure why you think I need to charge them when on page 127 second para, second bullet, Under the heading 'Once captured, artillery cannot be recaptured until either:' * A battle group belonging to the previous owner MOVES into contact (in a way that would normally result in close combat) w...

Re: FoG:R Errata v1.10

a way that would normally result in close combat How can you do that other than charging? By reading the sentence as a whole and applying a modicum of common sense as to what it says? The word 'move', is highlighted in my post and in the rules, so I kind of thought that was a hint   :ro...

You can also add Jerry Bray. I will check with Paddy but had assumed that Alasdair would be letting you know about him.

Bob,

I was under the impression that Alasdair was having a rest next year?

http://www.madaxeman.com/images/gamereportimages/Milton_Keynes_2013/IMGP1473.jpg Interesting "what if" from this weekend in the Tim vs Tim game. My Polish horse charged down Tims Spanish artillery park, which had units of his Horse behind it (yes, I know none of this is entirely out of the "tactica...

Re: Southern League 2014

Guys,

I think I said this is roughly what we did last year.

Last year we had no pistol armed cavalry and no pike and shot. The majority of the armies where bow or lance armed cavalry and warrior foot.

We will be doing the same next year.

Re: Southern League 2014

Bob,
second could be mounted only armies in which we could exclude those with pistol impact and pistol melee
This is roughly what we did at Clevedon last year and we will be doing again next year. We also excluded any pike and musket foot.

Details will be released at the weekend.

Re: Southern League - Milton Keynes Round 1st December

Actually same logic as most one day events, I have the army and its pretty and I haven't used it enough, see you sunday Alasdair While I suspect an element of truth, it is probably the best counter to massed mounted pistols and so a very good choice. Beginning to think I should have had the courage...

Re: 1700 to 1762

Guys, This is a period of linear tactics, when units formed into two or three mutually supporting lines. It is not a period of manoeuvre, except for Frederick the Great. Please remember there is no conscription and so armies are made up of professional soldiers, who where tightly controlled by NCOs....
