Re: hotseat?

Any news on this? The ability to play with a friend, sitting on the same couch, without the need for multiple licenses and computers, is all that game needs to replace Civ5 for most of my friends ;) I'm not even looking for an ETA or anything like this, just tell me you're still working on it and I'...

Re: buying mac and pc versions

Linux is twice the size of PC and Mac I've been quite surprised when I noticed the Linux download provide two times the full game (one for 32-bit OS and one for 64-bit OS). I think it could be avoided by repackaging it in a single archive containing 'Data' and 'Documents' only once, but two folders...

Re: Steam Release?

We have no DRM, unlimited downloads and unlimited installs. This means the game is yours and nobody can ever deactivate it if their server goes down. That's in a big part what decided me to beta-test, then buy Pandora. I wouldn't even have considered it if your business model had been similar to th...

Re: Pandora: First Contact has officially been released! :D

Maybe this is a more likely assumption for Linux users? I don't know. It is ;) I don't use a "GNU/Linux", I use a PC (with GNU/Linux). The opposition PC/Mac is still there in common language for historical reasons (they used to be on different architecture), but there has never been anything like t...

Re: Pandora: First Contact has officially been released! :D

Great, I bought the game for the wrong platform. Didn't consider that it would be necessary to click the operating system in the top. What now? Too impatient to buy the game, I did the same mistake ;) (the link with the coupon in my e-mail directs me to Windows version, and I didn't check further)....

Re: .30 voiceover feedback

One small thing disturbed me with the voice-over: the cut when you close the associated window. A fade would sound better IMHO. ----- @ HitmanN: We still disagree ;) What you can find on YouTube (even the ones with millions of view) doesn't sound good like professional voice acting. Maybe I'm a bit ...

Re: .30 voiceover feedback

No need to pay hollywood prices. You guys have legions of player volunteers from all over the world..put out the dialog lines and make it a contest. Sorry, but I'd say you're wrong: amateur voice-acting is often (always?) worse than no voice-acting at all. There is a lot of things you could ask fro...

Re: Musing on Victory conditions

We agree that victory conditions in general could be better. For the research victory we have been discussing making a final tech you have to research to win (transcendental ascesion or so). When we get a chance we'll likely change that. I think a building unlocked by the last tech would be better,...

Re: Game quits on victory/defeat on linux 64bit

It is probably a bug, I didn't notice anything like this on my Debian 64-bit.

I you have a savegame a few turns before victory/defeat, try to launch the game in a console, load your savegame, and reproduce the crash.
Then you should be able to see if anything in the console tells you what went wrong.

Re: Another set of first impressions

- I have no attachment to my units. If I loose troops in combat or off-screen during the AI's turn I don't really care. Maybe because the combat is so quick. I agree with this. I think the combats involving the player's units during AI's turn should happen one at a time, with the screen moving to i...

Re: what will happen with my beta after Pandora was Released

We'll issue you coupons to get a discount off the full version once it is available. You can use these towards the digital or boxed version. Thank you! I've already decided to buy Pandora as soon as it's released, and the discount is a nice attention to the beta-testers. A bit off-topic: will the b...

Re: Poor Diplomacy Will Cripple the Game

I think that placing troops close to their borders should make the AI factions nervous unless you are allied. This is already in the game ;) The other faction asked for withdrawal of my troops after a couple turns standing just right next to his frontiers. Didn't check for any effect on my relation...

PandoraUpdater.bin not working

Hello! When trying to launch the game today, it finds for an update but doesn't download it or does anything. All I have is a black window instead of the updater one. Nothing revealing in the console : dave@HAL9000:~/jeux/pandora/Pandora Beta$ ./Binaries/PandoraUpdater [2013-Oct-23 13:20:34] /home/d...

Even if it doesn't go with the release for deadline reasons, I would love to see it in a future update.
IMHO, it is the best way to double the fun of the game!

Re: Hot Seat game support

I have to agree on this! What's very good with turn-based strategy game is that they technically allow you to play with friends on one computer. Not providing this feature would leave part of the fun out. It is not the same to play over a network, or all in front of the same computer, looking at you...

Okay, here is my review of the couple first minutes in the game, actually covering everything but the gameplay. Re: Technical overview

I didn't think about the internal updater. By using it we already have most of the ease-of-use of a distribution-specific packaging. Distribution-specific packaging would mean distribution-specific updating, and I would understand that you will not be able to maintain different ways to upgrade the g...

Technical overview

Hello! I joined the beta today, and played no more than thirty minutes yet, so I won't be able to give any input on the game contents yet. On a technical point of view: _everything works well without any tweaking on a Debian Sid amd64 (GNU/Linux 64-bit) _it runs without any slowdown with the radeon ...

Just tried the last release on a 64-bit GNU/Linux, it does work well without any tweaking.
