Re: Armies of Order of Battle: Pacific

Agreed! Realistic balance of unit types in the core is a perennial niggle, sounds like a spot-on solution. Very thoughtful. I really like that method of deployment limitation too, sounds very exciting.

Thanks

Re: Favourite Scenarios - Enjoying So Far!

There's some inspiration there for me to press on and try the whole of the East/West DLC!

I agree with what is said about terrain etc, Panzer Corps really takes the use of terrain to a higher level.

I forgot to mention that Allied Corps was a really good experience in doing things differently too.

Re: Armies of Order of Battle: Pacific

Looks amazing :)

Can you explain what the little symbols and numbers mean inside boxes, and why some have zeroes and others don't etc?

Thanks

Favourite Scenarios - Enjoying So Far!

Have we done this thread recently? Having been slogging through the brutal grand campaign now with about one scenario a week, I wanted to register how pleased I am with the game balance and scenario variety. Now fighting Orel in 1943. I am playing v1.2 on Field Marshal and then on General level (got...

Re: Observation bombers in Minsk41 question

I sent in my recon battalions rapid and deep, and even though I couldn't get everything straight away there was next to no aerial resistance. I'm not really brave enough for paratroopers. I've been too brave with recon though, I lost an excellent veteran who went checking for stuff at Novoanninsky. ...

Re: Gameplay Footage: Tank movement & combat

That really looks awesome Adherbal, thanks.

Can you give us any idea of the tech specs for the game yet? Are there settings that will reduce the level of graphic luxury if my computer struggles?

Re: Ambient Sound & Unit Sound Effects

Thanks, that sounds awesome. Can't wait to hear those hellcats and corsairs!

You mentioned the graphics - can you outline minimum tech specs at all? Significantly greater than Panzer Corps?

Thanks in advance!

Ambient Sound & Unit Sound Effects

I loved the ambient sound of Pacific General: the waves lapping on the beach, seagulls etc. Combined with the rustle of undergrowth as units crept through the jungle, Pacific General really transported me somewhere else. A lot of games have music for a background, but I find it annoying after a shor...

Re: Overrun attacks like PG2???

I began to feel in PGII that overrun was just too powerful. I was considering tactics that were overcomplicated and unrealistic, just so that I could achieve maximum advantage from overrunning. I really like the way the developers have implemented the game balance in PzCorps.

Happy New Year!!!!

This year I shall mostly be playing GC1941 to 1945 (if I make it that far!). Excited about WH40K Armageddon, and possibly going completely slobbering crazy over OOB: Pacific...

Re: permadeath/ironman mode

I prefer to never reload a game. Amongst other things, it just bores me to death to replay scenarios straight away. Also for me it's much more excitingto play through the campaign taking the rough with the smooth, it's only more realistic after all? If I find the later parts of the grand campaign re...

Re: Half Traks vs Lorries/Favourite Infantry

Thanks for that! I think the used-halftrack salesman was having me on when he said it would solve all my problems! Obviously you all get through with very different preferences. I'll probably keep a couple of halftracks for fun, but I think my sense of economy will still keep them as a fairly rare c...

Re: Vyazma in GC41

:D It is what you might call the 'perennial problem' of blitzkrieg tactics: bypass some targets in order to smash the distant ones before it gets too late; or concentrate on methodically getting them one at a time using maximum resources? I think for me it just depends how much resistance I expect t...

Half Traks vs Lorries/Favourite Infantry

I was inspired by a previous thread to learn what peoples opinions are about the use of the above. In my Panzer divisions i usually keep a grenadier unit in a halftrack alongside an engineer unit in a lorry. The engineers are my favourite for smashing well defended hexes and they use the lorry to ma...

Re: Achievements for Panzer Corps

I strongly agree with Monkspider's sentiment "achievements that give you new challenges that you otherwise would have never attempted". I particularly think something to do with minimising losses would be good, as this is such a major motivational factor in real command decisions. I was impressed by...

It seems clear from the above that this may be considerably more advanced than Panzer Corps - a supply system for a start?
