Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

Already downloaded it and will test it this weekend. In fact, I used the 4th slot already with the proposals I made here for the hypothetic units. I figured out, you were responsible for the community upate. A great thanks in that regard.

Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

This is bad, but at least I can think of another way to balance the attacks and shots made. This is o.k. for the bayonet and the lasgun. By taking away the assault skill, we would ensure, that this unit will not attack in CC on its own, but can defend at last in CC. Unfortunately, without using non-...

Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

As long as weapons and stats can be tweaked we should be fine. A shame we cannot rename weapons or units and duplicate them. I would rather see a Steel Legion Veteran Squad and things alike. I should download your mod and take a deep look into it. I guess, however, we should opemn a new thread for t...

Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

I had some ideas transforming 40k mechanisms to down here. Example: Lasgun could come as 2 weapons: first one has range 1-1 and 2 shots while the other has range 2-2 and 1 shot. Add a bayonet with lemme say Strength 15 and 0 piercing and 1 shot at range 0-0 and charge skill and this will change the ...

Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

I have not modded the game yet so I might need some help with that. But I will ask, if needed. I would also try to compare the weapons and stats with canon to see whether it emulates the 'feeling' of WH40k. Benchmark should be, how the game on normal works with neither player cheating. A higher diff...

Re: Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP

Update: Added flyers and Scout titans. Will proceed, as soon as I pass that damn mission of holding the industry complexes.

Re: Sharing war experiences (General XP/Unit Analysis/WIP)

Let us continue here, since the maximum of letters you may write are 60.000 - which we would pass here. Super Heavy Tanks Upon defeating the last stand mission in the campaign and successful delay of the ork hordes, the Space Marines intervene and save the day. After that mission, super heavy tanks ...

Re: [Minor Bug] possible weapon bugs

Compared more units: Gorgon also has heavy bolters - four of them and they are rated 4 shots. Stangely the 4 mortars on the gorgon have 4 shots while 1 mortar has 3 (like in the mortar squad). I guess there is some number crunching to do. Additionally, a Salamander's Autocannon has 3 shots, a Hydra ...

Re: Sharing war experiences (General XP/Unit Analysis/WIP)

I noted your influx and added your experience about HQ units into the guide above. Thanks, both Parallax and sinbuster. Will continue to add to the guide when I have spare time (which is - unfortunately not this weekend). But I'd like to cover the Steel Legion first and then after that the Space Mar...

Re: Sharing war experiences (General XP/Unit Analysis/WIP)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments - this is really helpful! Maybe we can get a decent and detailled unit guide after all :)

[Minor Bug] possible weapon bugs

I tried to compare units and analyze them for making a guide in another section. I realized, that the heavy bolters from the Steel Legion Frie Support Teams have 4 shots each while the ones mounted on chimeras only have 2 shots each. It is the same weapon canon-wise and there are no differences in t...

Steel Legion unit analysis and gameplay experiences (WIP)

Dear community, this is just a thread to post my experiences with the game strategy-wise. I will try to be as objective as possible. I also want to thank DuncanSteward for his enlightening guide about units and mechanisms. I used some of his wisdom to shape my army and use it accordingly. Feel free ...

Re: Personal, absolutely subjective impressions

I would assume, if there is a 'Fire Pistol' action, then we would be fine with plasma/bolt pistols in the same squad. They would be treated as same kind of weapon and then I guess it all comes down to a number of dice rolls for to-hit and damage seperately. Sounds like something possible. Problems m...

Re: Personal, absolutely subjective impressions

I just wanted to eliminate the need to totally rewrite the game and saw the biggest problem in hit allocation in mixed units: who is to die? This seems not easy and as proof I would showcase such oddities lieke grey hunters packs with 3 flamers. It seems that a unit has to be formed from the same sp...

Re: Personal, absolutely subjective impressions

I agree totally with your wish for customization of units. However, I see a problem with integrating some of the suggestions made. Squad leaders fall into the category. When attached to the unit it causes more problems than good gameplay-wise. Since per action you can only fire a single weapon what ...

Re: I am quite pesimistic about this game...

Those surveys do not tell much. I would hazard the guess that the majority of customers are not giving any feedback or do not want to be bothered with a survey. They are content with consuming the game for a while and that is all - for different reasons. Whether they will buy the sequel or not - who...
