Disorder works on a base by base case, so if one base is disordered as it only accounts for one dice then there is no effect as are not three or more dice. So two bases disordered accounts for two dice in melee no effect for being disordered. However, in the inpact phase two bases add in four dice (...

I had forgotten about being able to interpenetration the LF that does make life easier. I have made the change to my army list. As I also plan to use the City Militia as poor mod with targets painted on them front and back adding an extra BG that will become backup targets sounds too much useless fi...

Which one to pick?

I have noticed that some of players pick LF as filler. I was looking a the Central Asian City States list and playing around with a few list ideas for my non medieval army. It gets LF unprot, ave ,bow @5pts and MF unprot, ave ,bow @5pts which one do I take? Yes the LF can skirmish but the MF have mo...

interesting, the illustrations I have seen gave me the impression in the 12th century that amphibious operations involved turning up on a Cog or other general boat you had lying around putting a plank over the side and climbing into the water. I am surprised the medieval mind invented the land craft...

I normally end up with 14 BG and don't work too hard to get that many. I would be happy to play the right army with 12 or 13 BG though. Surely this depends on the army you use, something like the English HYW it would difficult to get 14 BGs with out sacrificing too many combat effective troops for f...

Medieval Higgins boat?

Last night myself and four other war gamers went to see Ridley Scott's movie Robin Hood. We pissed ourselves laughing for the last 10 minutes of the film during the scene that looked a medieval remake of Omaha beach. Strangely the five of us were the only people laughing in the cinema. So does any m...

Is there a difference between swarm armies and armies with filler? If a player spends 100pts on poor LF to pad out his army surely that means they are only spending 700pts on combat effective BGs. So if it goes up against an English HYW with 800pts spent of 11 combat effective BGs + one filler LF BG...

Khurasan Miniatures are about to release their HYW range so it might be worth holding off until it is released to see what they are like. I have some Donnington New Era HYW figures for my Brigands and camp figures they are very nice. Donnington have the advantage of selling figures separately so it ...

While the rules treat an evade and rout in the same way for the purpose of the game mechanics but they are not. An evade and a rout are not the same type of move. An evade is a (relatively) controlled manoeuvre made on a command given by the BG commander. A rout all command and control has broken do...

So what if you only have 20 stands of longbow......How would you configure this army? (how many superior heavy foot can you take?) Ian Buy four more stands of longbow men! Seriously I use both the Free Company and English HYW armies and I always max out the LB in the Free Company which is 24 bases ...

The thing with the BL is your opponent is going to try to break it up, no one with they have other options are going to charge a BL 24 longbow head on. If your BL is forced to wheel at different angles you end up with a lot of 6 base BG shooting at single targets.

In a one on one fight the 180 turn is free when one side routs. You only pay for wheeling from VMD to avoid friends and other enemy once you start moving (running) away from the winner of the combat. The principle would imply that VMD is for working out how far you move away from your opponent once ...

Do Elephants do as two models per figure for xHPB in close combat as well as shooting?

I think I may have been making a big mistake in not factoring in an Elephant BG is considered to be four bases for xHPB.

I agree with some things skip the knights - with only one BG you will spend most of your time protecting it. Some heavily armoured foot I have found are good espically against Roman legionnaires. I disagree about longbows in 6s I like 8s as it maximizes your shooting dice and this army is all about ...

It depends on how many flags you need, Little Big Men are a good option but I have also started buying flags from Flag Dude at $4US if you want alot it get expensive but if you only want six or so flags they are great.

That is a nice idea of putting a wedge under the figure base raise it so the heights differences are not so obvious.
