Well if you go by the period publications 'Boy' the princes puddle was the focus of significant attention in the public (of both sides) at the time. You can always claim it was not a dog but some kind of evil spirit - as some people at the time did. So maybe your not an animal hater but a righteous ...

For the ECW, just the military side of things, you can do worse than read: ALL THE KING's ARMIES by S Reid and/or ENGLISH CIVIL WAR: An Illustrated Military History/ P Haythornthwaite. The former is much more recent and has the latest (and sometime slight controversial) views/opinions vs. the latter...

The one thing which is certain in the ECW is there was no consistency across and even withing units and there was no official uniform as in even 50 years further on. Field signs (physical and verbal) were the order of the day for a reason. :) Some units were much more consistent than others - Newcas...

I still think the best fix for SSW in melee is to make it a +1 POA only if all other POAs are even - just like mounted Lt Spear in impact. That allows SSW to beat other SW if all other factors (armor) are even.
I thought this was a very good suggestion when it was p...

Just a random thought but has anyone tried/thought of a much more compact 'DBA style' approach to mini FOG? I have not thought this really through but starting with things such as: * Just use one base per unit and then use book keeping/a sheet for how many bases an element really has. Alternatively,...

BTW, I would assume that the Warlord firelocks may actually work for dragoons, if based correctly of course. So if your short of dismounted dragoon's that may be an option. A horse on the base is always cool for dragoons though. The use of riding boots was the only real difference between dragoons a...

How many? Is it one per gun?
If you want to move them about at the start of the game - but once unlimbered they cannot relimber. However, most people deploy them unlimbered, as you can deploy them last, meaning you should be able to deploy them somewh...
I keep reading that officers would often run up to a body of troops only to be captured since they turned out to be enemies. In one battle both sides used the same call sign. To my understanding and memory, a 'forlorn hope' was a unit of shot only made up of volunteers. That would have a mix of outfits from all different units and likely would not have a flag etc. as these were often small(ish) and created adhoc as required for specific missions/reasons before engagement...

Welcome to the hobby & period. :) before you start buying, you need to work out what scale - 15mm or 28/30mm are the two main ones for this period. Finding out what local opponents play is the best idea. Depending upon your location in the world that may have a factor as well. I believe many comps i...
