There are multiple aspects to the hobby. For those how want to game then counters would work and I see no issue in that. For those who want to paint never play with their toys then again no issue. For people with real lives and multiple hobby projects using counters till you can get armies painted u...

My group has been using counters for FoG Nap (the people who are no the play test list) and more generally for Lasalle games (a Napoleonic rules set well worth a try BTW). This has been done with great success. This is while we paint up real armies and has got more people painting and playing while ...
I've am very tempted to use 1 less fig for all elements with 28/30mm figs. This would allow better placement and more cost effective armies as well. Thus, HF have 3, MF 3 or 2, LF has 1 fig per element etc. The same would be true for mounted. As all the troop/element types would still be obvious I h...

I'll make the maybe obvious comment that for me it depends on what your opponents are willing to play/use. :) Also, if you ware willing to do some sabot bases and compromise a little, then you can base the figs individual 20x20 as for WAB and then combine them for FoG. The heavy foot have 3 vs 4 fig...

I got this resolved. I had to find and install a later version of the ATI driver, which was an optional hardware patch available from Windows - this seems to have resolved the issue. It also support the 1400 x 1050 display resolution which from your comments may be the issue? Anyway, I'm up and runn...

New download user unable to run the program
I just downloaded the digital version and registered but although I can get to the initial 'splash screen', when I hit o.k. nothing happens - no process in the process list or anything displayed etc. I could and did register the program and there were no issues on install. I have checked the program...

The GW inks are similar the AP , except water based (ie pigment in a varnish solution). They dry matt, and are the right consistancy. Bangs for buck I'd say it would be up there. If you don't want a lot of hassle then I would say try them I would recommend Devlan mud as a good all rounder. ta Simon...

Alas, as well as being a bit of an attempt at humour it is also accurate - you'll have to wait for Slitherine/Osprey to make an announcement I'm afraid. Any news about when news will be announced. Is it aimed for the first or second half of the year for example, as 'next year' is now this year. Oh ...

Or simply allow all HF to be the same depth bases as MF? To all intents they already do with the bit on non-standard basing. I very nearly based my WotR billmen on MF sized bases but refrained because I was just lloking to exploit the geometrical advantages  So making the standard depth basi...

yesss griffin is close to atlanta. who can i contact? As a non resident of the area I would suggest you try NATO - http://www.tabletop-wargames.org/ as I believe they moved from DBx to FoG as their rules set of choice for Ancient games. They are in the north of the area so not sure how far they are...

So, nickj . . . Get stuck in on some castings or units you care less about, and allow yourself to experiment and perhas make mistakes. 15mm is far easier to paint than 25mm. Black or white undercoat is a matter of taste and style as much as anything else. I've tried both and prefer black myself. Bu...

And being a similar problem, I look forward to the day a rule set has the guts to introduce DBx-style 8cm bases for 28mm scale! If preventing rebasing were the most important thing, there wouldn't be any improvement ever. The Impetus rules set actually uses 12 cm frontage for 28mm figs. They also h...

What matters more than most things is getting decent looking bases. There are some suggestions on different techiques in this forum. That's a bit of sagely advice there for any fig scale but especially 15mm. It amazes me how a poor base spoils a fig and equally how good basing brings up even fairly...

A couple of difficult angles could play havoc with this. Organising the LF positioning could be quite difficult. I would not like to see games decided by a mistake with LF positioning or a low or high VMD roll for LF. LF count as BG's and their use is as important as any other BG. The should not be...

What you seem to miss is yes the LH scoot around but they don't do much damage to HF armoured, last night I shot at one BG of armoured spearman for at least four bounds with 2 and half BG LH without forcing a test. So lets be honest here yes they can get behind you but what can they do to you apart...
