The more I think on this the more I prefer the idea that if you can't interpenetrate fully then you can't at all. Probably would reward correct positioning of skirmishers/interpenetrators in the first place rather than rewarding the use of LF to increase your movement  I must admit this is t...

Maybe if FOG had vitory points for table control that could change things? That may be an idea. Although a little hookie, the value of camps in some rules sets (such as the Dbx ones) at least means that skirmishing armies have something which they need to defend. In FoG the camp is really not that ...

If you have any free time, I'd run Romans or Spanish against your Vikings. There's still two weeks of no school! :P I'd love too but work and my own schooling are my issues - it's research and thesis writing time for me for the next few months... I have to concentrate on those <sigh> my latest sear...

Will there be a tournament at all? Marc I'd run one if I knew of any other souls interested in one. Running the games lets people try out the rules. I suppose if some people posted here that they were interested, it might happen. But it's just Deadtorious and I so far. Dan T. (Maybe some of the guy...

I would really only think the following are worth considering for actual changes: - Troops that flee off table count as 2 attrition points lost - Perhaps some adjustment to the Steppe terrain type In another thread someone made the suggestion that the 2 attrition point lost for fleeing off the tabl...

Another use is with firearms to add the extra negatives for tests when combined with other more effective at generating hits units. You don't need large units for that

That's what I plan to do with my Ottomans.

But on a modeling note, those of you who are planning to build your pre 1500 army and plan on using Old Glory for your Retainers (there were no Ashigaru until after 1500). There "Early Ashigaru" who I hoped would look more like retainers would be at home in 1600! There "Late Ashigaru" look like Sam...

On a similar note in a recent competition my opponent asked for my points per unit type and he proceeded to calculate what I had put on the table. Yes, this is the problem with competitions. It brings out the worst kind of wargamer. Myself, in that situation, I would have said "that's not a part of...

You need to be positive with heavy foot but if you are then you can win in the time limit. No doubt this is part of my problem. The armies that I like the history and falvour of aren't the armies that fought the way that suits my style of play. I'm not an overly aggressive player. There will be tim...

Caesar's first landing on Britain was opposed. So in a sort of way was William the conquers landing. Harold had spent time waiting for it too occur after all and had side issues to deal with though. The issue at the time for Harold in the planning stages was knowing where the landing force would pu...

Hi, no insult to your counters which I think look nice, but I don't think it's necessary to mark whether troops are disordered/severely disordered. Their status is determined by terrain that they are in, so it's sort of 'already there'. Personally, I don't like to have anything on the table (dice, ...

Re: Status Counters..Pics Attached :)

Not sure if I ever posted this. Just cut, glue onto similar sized bits of matt board, and enjoy. Having one side "Disrupted This Turn" and the other side "Disrupted" has helped us keep straight when a BG can attempt to bolster. hmmm....not sure how to attach file...is there a way to attach a WORD f...

I don't think the Total War series has kept people from playing minis. -Steve True, though the total war series was a very broken game with far too many power units and tactics that broke the poor AI despite the number of patches. I am hoping FoG PC is able to stay away from this I think you'll fin...

There are people who think it's incorrect to use Landsknecht models for Swiss due to the shape of the sword the troops used used. I take my hat off to these people and their knowledge - the same with Samurai Armour and as long as they are point out differences in a helpful way so others can learn th...

If it's really based on the tabletop rules, then Essex, et al. probably are going out of business. :? Spike You know I really doubt that. We are all too enamored on pushing and painting mini's. The game play is only part of the hobby after all. 8) But an option for playing (and learning to play) th...

I had fun and whiled away quite a few hours with DBAOL a few years ago and so this could be interesting for those of us who don't have active ancient playing wargame clubs/opponents near them (or just don't have time to organize and get real games done). If it can do 2 player, remote and time separa...

It's only drilled troops that this would be a problem with, I don't know that I'd fancy it with undrilled. And it's not a retreat, it's a tactical withdrawl :D Of course an opponent doing the tactical withdrawal deserves a good taunting in the traditions of the 'Holy Grail' - comments about 'silly ...

Maybe all non-skirmisher foot should have to pass a CMT to turn 180. That would stop this kind of thing, without causing any knock-on problems that I can think of. Your basically making the 180 a complex move and in many cases for drilled troops a turn in pace should be a reasonable combat move. IM...

Even a screen of light troops in front of the legions have helped stop this. but it could have made the 'turning tail' and marching away from missile armed troops less palatable - although I doubt they would have caused enough hits for a cohesion level loss(and allow the LF to charge home). It may h...
