Re: Less Tech for some factions?

I think the current setup is justifiable. They didn’t end up making big strides in infantry or artillery, but in theory they could have. Anyone can make grenades, helmets, and pillboxes, or can develop new tactics. Developing the industrial capacity to build ships or tanks (or engines) could take mo...

Can a Russia-first strategy work?

I'm thoroughly enjoying this game during my commute (by train, not car!). I'm offline during that time so I'm just playing against the AI, and as the Central Powers I'm always struggling. I've managed to win once so far, and it was by hammering France hard and then turning towards Russia. I haven't ...

Re: CP Nerfed

It was against the AI - which seems to be pretty good on one front, just not on a strategic level. Still better than most AI's I've seen, except it really should have stopped hammering Germany and Hungary so hard when the Ottomans broke through the Caucuses. It was a fun playthrough. But yes, it dro...

Re: CP Nerfed

Now try as the Central Powers! I managed to win on turn 113 out of 118, so it can be done! I've devastated a whole generation of men, though - this casualty list is from right before Romania, Russia, and Italy surrendered in rapid succession (after that, they don't show up in this list). I got a goo...

Re: CP Nerfed

I think that Russia, in particular, is more powerful than it should be. It certainly doesn't feel like they're being sent into Germany with one rifle for every two soldiers!

I assumed it was for historical reasons, but man, there's a huge difference between the two campaigns.

I had the same issue. I loaded a save from two turns back, replayed those turns, and didn't encounter the error again.

Re: Commander: The Great War PC PDF Manual

When I attack Serbia, they repel my attack and conquer Budapest. When I attack Belgium and France, I can't even reach Antwerp. Even when I set production to infantry to get ready for the Eastern Front, the Russians (and the dozen units) annihilate my three German units. I just don't know what to do...

Re: IPad Version is rolling out in the App Store.

I'm worried that the AI is stuck in an infinite loop. It's been "Deciding moves..." (cycling between two and four dots) for 10+ minutes. Yeah, some turns are long, but never this long. Quitting and reloading didn't change the result. I'm going to try reloading, doing something different, and then en...

Re: New Player Beginners Guide!

Thanks, I needed that! On my second run-through as the Entente things went quite well, but I'm really struggling as the Central Powers (Balanced). I can take Belgium and Calais by winter 1914, but that's as far as I can go on that front (I haven't been able to take Verdun). I'm slowly winning in Ser...

Re: IPad Version is rolling out in the App Store.

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature: as the Entente, I reconquered all of Belgium, but there was never a morale boost; it's still in the red. PP is at +2, and only after demolishing my labs (otherwise it was at -2). Will they not come back as a power of any significance? *edit* Belgium's prod...

Re: IPad Version is rolling out in the App Store.

I think I'm going to enjoy this game, but it's not quite as good a port as I was hoping. Parkingtigers covered a lot of my observations, but here are some more. - The scrollable text boxes, like in the introduction to the game, scrolls way too fast. - The buttons are tiny, especially in the options ...

Re: Qvadriga Races to iOS, Android and Steam!

Well, I'm enjoying the races, but the controls in the campaign screens (Manage in particular) are confounding. I bought a chariot and cannot for the life of me figure out how to assign it to a team. I've learned enough to not accidentally sell off chariots or fire aurigas, but those up/down arrows d...

Re: German WWII war strategy: coulda, shoulda, woulda

My understanding is that Germany was approaching a fiscal crisis and that made compelled Hitler to start the war a few years earlier than he had promised Admiral Raeder. Once they did that, I think their only chance would have been to make use of Ukrainian manpower… which could not have happened und...

Re: Aircraft flightpath.

I don’t know about this particular case, but I do get annoyed when a unit’s projected path takes it through the fog of war when there are revealed tiles it could safely travel through. It inevitably ends up running into a hidden enemy and not reaching its intended destination.

Re: Unit retreats with 0 fuel

I'd prefer if units out of fuel simply didn't retreat, but I don't see the problem with an ammo-less rugged defense. It just means better digging in or hiding.
