Now this is just silly. I ended up with the green faction again, I still can't remember all the names. As a test I decided not to attack any aliens at all, though I accidentally killed one of them early on. I managed to build 7 cities during the alien assault phase, and not once did any alien attack...

My goodness. I was looking around at the XML files and I noticed that they already have a reference to a Fish resource with a +3 food. I wonder why they haven't made it appear in the game?

Bonus, thanks. That still doesn't address my first point that the ecological faction might be a bit too powerful with their trait though. I think having the lower aggression set to -25% rather than -50% might be a bit more balanced. I had to get fairly aggressive with them when I played that faction...

That's what I do: 3 cities, max 4, with max defense walls, with each at least 3 defense units and a builder before the big aggression, then 2 more units to help defense town and working builder (if getting out of town is not too dangerous). I would not agree with maintaining only one city until the alien hordes have been dealt with. This could leave you behind the other factions in development. You mean it doesn't? That's quite the exploit. With enough manpower, you could take down an entire faction in no time.

Road may be a double edge teraforming as it helps your troop to go to the front line, but it also significantly raise the speed of a conquering army into your territories. They could just use the Civ 4 system where an invading army doesn't get any benefits from an enemy's roads. It's a little silly...

I see. That makes for a pretty big city. I guess I'll have to rethink my city locations. I can see why some people have been recommending just sticking to a single city until after the alien hordes have been dealt with.

Automated Formers are not building roads

I noticed in my own territory that my auto-Formers were not building roads. And I was just checking out one of the other factions with a naval ship I've been sending around the continent and they don't have any either. Just a few stretches here and there.
