Re: Grand campaign preset core force?

You are always much better off with your hand made force except you manage to srew the gameplay on the easiest setting. You will have - more experience - more heroes - better units and equally important for 43 to 45 - more money (prestige), in fact much more. There is no point in using the preset co...

Re: Soft Cap Calculation questions

Horst, I am in the middle of the 44 campaign now and only losing a bit of money while overstrengthening and upgrading to Tiger II. A still healthy 44 k bank of prestige in hand. That having said I only managed to do that by good gameplay, abusing game mechanics, planning to be there from 39 forward ...

Re: Soft Cap Calculation questions

I love people who test things. The results of Horst clearly indicate why the soft cap is discussed so often - it is much worse than its description indicates. The real cap is not 800 but 650, which is just the value of an ordinary strength 10 Panther. Furthermore Horsts published values clearly indi...

Re: Amoured cars OP?

In the end the AC problem is just one of the many compromises the game has to make to unify units of vastly different sizes/deployment in real life to units of roughly the same face value strength. Impossible to correct that in the end - it´s the same for ACs as for e.g. artillery or AT. If - and th...

Re: How many core units can be deployed at max? Which Scenar

:D
So you planned ahead according a forum received information not obtainable in the game documentation, right? Because it is mentioned nowhere that in the late dlc scenarios experience cap is lower than previously.

Thanks for proving my main point.

Re: How many core units can be deployed at max? Which Scenar

Yes Sir, I would call a maximum difference in necessary core size between 35 and 50 vital. Especially if combined with the soft cap rules introduced with 1.20. And of course I will call it vital to know, that after a long series of max. core sizes way below 40 in the last and most difficult scenario...

Re: How many core units can be deployed at max? Which Scenar

A sincere thanks for the values! I was just about to sell more of my 52 units core in 44 thinking the downward spiral in diminishing core units lasts. And I really beleive the makers of PzC should improve on their documentation! It´s an impossible state that vital information like this has to be obt...

Re: A bit generous with late USSR tanks?

If you compare the late Russian tanks and AT units with the T34 or the PzIV their values are just fine. Which means that in comparison German armour and the late German AT units are clearly nerfed. Which is most likely intended as a counter to the fact that a German player can buy these units in the...

Re: Amoured cars OP?

While I agree with Tarrak on the firepower versus armour equation - armoured cars came in varieties armed up to a 47mm gun - except the Dingo, which was nothing than a tin can, I still broadly disagree with the design values of a lot of non German tanks and ACs. What made German armour lethal despit...

Re: GC West on FM difficulty

I’m playing on General and have amassed a heap of prestige (around 53,000 in the middle of escape Stalingrad now). You might want to take a look on my previous analysis of losses in 43. Basically 53.000 is a good starter, 43 will cost you (good gameplay a prerequisite of course) about 10 to 12.000 ...

Re: Need help with the DLC Grand Campaigns

The forts of course can be a source of the problem as well. Some of them got very high spotting values (up to 5 hexes on some of them iirc) so they see a lot further then you expect. Quite often the fort see your units way before you even spotted it's presence. The single main reason why taking out...

Re: Newb questions about iPad version... hrrmmm...

I agree with the critics and yet ... Actually PzC, on the PC a pretty light game, is one of the richest and deepest IPad games, where normally "strategy" games are a joke! So I can live with the missing content, because I looked at it anyway as a newborn Panzer General, which had nothing of this stu...

Re: German WWII war strategy: coulda, shoulda, woulda

I am a big fan of Churchill, although German. But Gallipoli was borderline: A sound strategy in principle but built on abilities which hardly existed at that time - close cooperation between navy and army in an amphibious operation. It failed, although barely, but according what I read more in depth...

Re: German WWII war strategy: coulda, shoulda, woulda

@GaryChildress: Nice explanation, does not fit to the facts unfortunately. The loss rates of the German army was always lower than the one of its enemies. West or east front, attack or defense the same picture, although brutality coupled with inefficiency of the Red forces leadership made the dispar...

Re: How to handle the KV-5

But I really can’t understand how they justify making a +9A Junker Hero?? Because he flew ~2,500 combat missions, was credited with ~2,000 destroyed targets in the war including ~500 tanks and 4 ships and was shot down 32 times! Yep, he was the one survivor among the 1.000 trying the same. The othe...

Re: How to handle the KV-5

Don´t worry about these too much. Either force a retreat in close terrain and annihilate with infantry or use Rudel StuKa. At 14 hard they don´t do that much damage to experienced German armour, they are slow as hell and have little ammo. I found the Churchills much more annoying in the mentioned sc...

Re: German WWII war strategy: coulda, shoulda, woulda

The Soviets didn't actually need any British decodings, they had their own intelligence network: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_spy_ring So even if the Enigma messages hadn't been decyphered the Soviets would still have had enough info to know what was up. 8) Right. That makes it even more of a ...

Re: Allied Corps way to easy?

I am impressed some people actually remember MAX, used to love that. It was abandoned but there is currently a project called MAX reloaded wich is trying to recreate it; cross platforn, i.e. unix and apple as well as windows. I believe they have got it up to 200 turns, the old game would usually cr...
