Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

PS- as far as I know the AI opponent doesn't use Elite replacements, so I don't either because I want to keep it a level playing field..:) Well, the playing field is level either way, because elites are more expensive to both players, so you just get less of them. Probably better the AI is not give...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Yeah, I took a little R&R with them OoB graphics being broken after the last patch. But as you covered the questions in the Steam forums and Bruce and Spike the forums here, there was really no need for me to post anything...  Thanks. :) Gotta keep the new OoB-players at Steam happy, so...

Re: How do I use Godankey.com key for free DLC?

CoolDTA, unfortunately the instructions in the thread you provided start with purchasing a DLC and getting a download link, so this does not help me. It does, but notice the instructions further down. You need to go to the Members Downloads and from there download the Order of Battle : World War II...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Hi Gabe, thought you lost your way in the forests and swamps of Finland. ;) Too much RP here. Even though I don't share Andy's non-elite-repair-policy at all . All units perform way better with more experience, it's a must for me. Definiteley agree with them repairs. Also probably with the RPs also,...

Nice win! Looks like the only battle missing is Moscow. After that you have essentially played the campaign. Well, in your original style anyway. ;)

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

However, rather than going through this again  , I prefer to go back a beginning of Turn 24 save and do a CTRL+C #overtime for more turns. Sure it's cheating but I want to see what happens if I fall back, regroup, and come at them again. Let's see how many turns I will need! Lets see: ...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Good advice there, Bru. Some personal views: 1) In this DLC I gladly use RPs for aux conscripts and regulars because they cost so little and you get a 50% refund. Was it sthg like 5 RPs (= 2.5 net) for 5 str pts for conscripts. It's a bargain! Don't upgrade units unless it makes sense is one of the ...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Not in this case. I was able to use that additional air commander immediately. Yes, the commander appears immediately in Summa 39, but wasn't the scenario Spike played Karelia? And just in time, too, because I had rather badly underestimated the potential threat from the west; I think I could have ...

To each his own. I prefer the goodies AND the victory!

I do, too, but we have to remember Spike only plays standalone scens and those particular goodies apply to campaign game.

Re: New player with Order of Battle questions! :))

Looking at my quite old save I used only two marines for the eastern island and the rest for the big one. Used only marines (+one raider) except when you get more CPs later then I bought a 105mm how. For the air one Wildcat and one Dauntless. On the eastern island take the seaplane base asap to give...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Hardly, my dear sir! Middle difficulty does not equal "wuss"! As a matter of fact, if a scenario can go either way for, let's say, an average player like me who usually plays on middle difficulty, then I would adjudge it to be finely balanced. Inexperienced players can dial back the difficulty whil...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Okay, I have now finished the first seven scens. At the middle diff because I'm a wuss. 1. Lake Khasan 1938 (border conflict, with Japan, Manchuria) Good first scenario. Used two about equal prongs. Conscripts are really fragile, but they are also very cheap, so if you use them accordingly, t...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

I've dabbled in campaign play and found that the longer it goes on, the more we get hampered by the "core force" thing, and by how many purchase points we can spend etc, because the results of the previous battle have an impact on the next one, but with standalones we get a clean fresh sheet every ...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

Newcomers to OOB note- Unlike campaign play, standalone scenarios allow us to buy exactly what we want, so in that respect they're ideal for newcomers to learn on, :?: Krmh, actually campaign play allow us to buy exactly what we want, too. There are no differences. Your dice roll system is nice. :)...

Re: 'Tanks, more tanks, Tovarish!' - Red Star Review and Discuss

AARGH after winning my first 4 Red Star standalone scens back to back I've just lost the 5th at the hands of the Finns in Viipuri (1940) (sniffle).. That's an impressive number of tanks you have there, Spike! And a fleet of 9 x T-34's at Smolensk. Thanks for the reports and keep them coming...

Yes, you need two more leads with a regular 3.5mm plug. There are many to choose from here.

and these 30cm 4K ULTRA HD HDMI CABLE jobs look okay, what do you think, and does "Ultra HD" mean anything? It means the cable supports up to 3,840 x 2,160 pixels resolution. Looks good. A short cable like that certainly reduces the clutter in your lab. I don't want to even think about the spaghett...
