So an alternative solution could be to allow for a higher max entrenchment in a hex if you e. g. spend PP's to get above the natural max entrenchment value. E. g. a clear hex has a max of 1. So by entrenching you could e. g. get it up to as high as 8. You have to pay for each extra like: 2 PP's per...

Re: Beginner Question on Supply

Just got this great game and I had a question about invasion supply. Specifically, do naval unit on the map contribute to supply? I landed in Norway on both sides of Olso, but my boys ran out of sauerkraut and couldn't focus on the task at hand. My next thought was to take a smaller coastal city an...

Thanks! I need to get my hand on that original manual... edit: Got it from the sticky! Is everyone from Maryland or what? LoL B-More - get used to the world! We have the accident of being close, a very unique instance, most of the USA players are scattered. I think Ronnie (rkr1958) in Ala, might be...

We can use sections of the GS manual in the Wiki if you want. Also we created 5 brochures for GS 2.0 that look good and contain good content. They are on the Slitherine we site or posted here in the Forum. I have 3 more ready, so far, for the GS 2.1 launch. You would need to contact Iain from Slithe...

I would recommend reading the CEaW Grand Strategy Manual. The manual contains specific section on Tactics and Strategies to help you learn to play and play well very quickly. Indeed, in the version 2.1 that will be coming out there is a section for New Players that has been added.

Keeping the manual up to date with all of the ongoing beta changes is a prodigious effort, Alec, and is much appreciated. Though I haven't finished reading through all of it yet (or at least the latest version that I have on hand -- 2.01.35), what I've seen is very good in terms of breaking down th...

Is it possible to add combat examples as well (all the formula + terrain influence)?
I will ask Staffenberg about the formulas.

As far as examples - if people send them in - I will be glad to add them to the manual!!

Purchase of Fortresses?

Has any consideration or thought been given to the ability to purchase a fortress and place on the board? There would, of course, be some restrictions but it seems that a certain amount of PP and game turns would be required. The biggest issue I see would be how to add the purchase of this asset to ...

See the following for subs & Gibraltar: http://formontana.net/uboats.html It was narrow and shallow in parts and very heavily patrolled. It is not a very universal example of sub use near shore. U-boats were effective immediately off the US coast until the allies sent in forces & resources. Which is...

I believe that the messages are configurable. The actual text is in a separate txt file. Therefore, depending on the trigger event - they can be customized.

I think a NATO/WARSAW Pact MOD would be interesting. There is the same theater, same weapons mix - less nukes and a few other minor nuances. Would something like that be possible?

Again, respectfully - I have seen all that and for me it seems to all be the same. Anyway - I have edited the icons myself for all the GAR units to make them only blank squares. I will play test myself for a while. If anyone else wants to play with large icon set where GAR units are a simple smaller...

I agree with Ronnie. Indeed, if one looks at the regular icons - the GAR is just a plain box.

IMO if combat factors in the counters do not really give you useful info then may be you should use default counters. Goal with the last large counters update was to include useful data in the counters about the corresponding unit so if you don´t pay attention to numbers in the unit then what would...

Have you read some of the lab strategies that have been published with Grand Strategy expansion? The labs chosen for each power should be focused and support your overall strategy. One thing that should definitely help for distinguishing between garrison units and corps units is to look at the different combat values showed in the respective units. So 4-3-1 are showed for corps units an 2-3-0 for garrison units. If we don´t look to combat factors recently added in the respect...
