Re: The Editor needs radical simplification

1)hot seat game is essential. right now if i want to test a game, i have to do a mp game challenge to myself, and when i pick it up, everytime i have to watch the replay of my own playing that cannot be turned off. i can't really justify using my free time in that way. 2) a baggage and/or marker un...

The Editor needs radical simplification

If this game is going to succeed as it deserves, the Editor will need to be made more accessible to players who don't understand coding. By now there should be a dozen new user-created, finished scenarios to try. It's clear from the Forum and other reviews that this game has attracted plenty of inte...

Re: Pike&Shot for FoG players

Not quite the original question, but reading the other posts I'd guess that even keen designers of other games - such as FoG - are finding it very hard to get to grips with this Editor? I'm very much an amateur but I found it reasonably easy to design a number of scenarios for FoG that were accepted...

Wish list

Overall this is an excellent game, particularly as this period is general is ill-served by PC games. A few thoughts, I'm sure they've already occurred to many other players: I don't know enough about writing codes to know whether these suggestions would mean redesigning the whole game, which is obvi...

Re: Recruitment is now open!!

I'll have a no doubt short-lived crack with a Foederate Roman (West) army.

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

Sure it isn't what Slitherine wants to hear, but I'd sooner pay whatever for an upgrade to add Renaissance figures to the basic system than I would for the proposed 'Wolves from the Sea', which is reasonably well covered by the existing figure range.

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

Pete, looked at some of your earlier posts and others' responses and clearly we're thinking the same way. Being realistic, this is a commercial game and Slitherine aren't going to expend any $ making changes to the existing system just to satisfy a minority of players who insist on trying to design ...

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

A small range of figures that could be used for Renaissance + later would be really useful, and could be added without needing to change the underlying engine. Some medium infantry arquebusiers/musketeers, cuirassiers/later reiters, 'harquebusiers' (like Cromwell's Ironsides), more suitable pikemen,...

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

And another, with the Ottoman Turks outflanking the Mamluk's defensive lines outside Cairo: the Battle of Raydaniyah, 1517 AD. Again, even points and some non-standard FoG units to cover this later period.

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

Convalescing from a back operation at the moment so a little time on my hands: three more Renaissance scenarios using - and bending  - the FoG Ancient engine: Agnadello 1509 - the end of Venice as a European land power: Marignano 1515 - the first time the Swiss were stopped in a century; & ...

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

Two more for the 21 players who've looked at the earlier ones: Kerestes 1596AD, a large encounter battle between a Hapsburg Imperialist army and the Ottoman Turks, and - two years and a continent away - The Yellow Ford 1598 AD, with a small Anglo-Irish relief force attempting to move from Armagh to ...

Re: FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

Cheers Micha but I have to be honest and say that a certain suspension of disbelief is required in order to fit the later Renaissance battles into the FoG Ancients system, although I think it's worth the effort. Speaking personally I'd very much prefer to see an FoG Renaissance digital version relea...

FoG digital Renaissance - pushing the envelope

I know that FoG wasn't intended to cover this, but I've designed a few Renaissance scenarios which might be of interest to some players. A few have already made it to to the standard scenario directory (thanks Keith) but these are several new ones. A few thoughts: - I've always juggled the numbers t...
