Re: Unit fall backs?

So, for example, what would happen wargame-wise if I were to design a Milvian Bridge scenario, where Emperor Maxentius - for reasons best known to himself - defended Rome in front of the Tiber after carefully having destroyed the main bridge which was his only route to safety? Historically his infer...

Re: Fog II and Pike and Shot II?

While I can appreciate the animations in FoG II, I must confess that I prefer the overall look of P&S. Tabletop rules notwithstanding, a pike block of sixteen figures just isn't a phalanx for me. And I prefer shooting in both the active and passive players' turns. With a few extra skins, P&S could e...

Re: Pike & Shot makeover

With all due respect to the striking animations and textures in FoG II, I'd also like to see skins for elephants, chariots, ballistae and narrower Mobs (to use as light infantry) added to P&S, so that it could be expanded into the Classical/Ancient period. I still feel happier with a phalanx that lo...

Re: Map modding someone ?

You can download a free programme like paint.net, then use it to open the Tiles file. Then you can recolour, adjust saturation, etc to get the effect you want, and save the new Tiles file as, say, FoG/Multiplayer/ name of battle /Tiles/ name of battle _base and, when you open the Game Editor for tha...

Re: New Objects

If you don't feel up to wrestling with sf4 files (and I certainly don't) there is a lot you can still do with the Objects files from both this and P&S, by recolouring and erasing different areas of the pictures. Similarly, you can change the Tiles file to create, say, pits and caltrops, then stick t...

Re: CEAW 4.0

Thanks. Do try to persuade Marix/Slitherine to put an announcement on the splash screen for their other games. Unless players haunt these forums on a regular basis it's sometimes hard to keep up with developments on this (and other) very good mods.

Re: CEAW 4.0

Just be absolutely clear, is the link to update to 4.0 the final, official version that's just waiting for Slitherine to provide an installer, which isn't expected until the New Year, or is it still an advanced beta test? Cheers.

Sent revised texture to Richard, hopefully it can be added to correct the scenario. I don't have an iPad myself so hard to see issue.

Re: "The marble brigade"

Hi, never seen this before, no one else has mentioned it, and it isn't how it appears on my PC. None of which is any comfort to you, Speaking directly to Richard about this Explicit Alpha thing, hope to find a solution. Is this from the MP version, the Vitoria (French), Vitoria (Allies), or all thre...

Hi Hendrikus, just seen this, never certain whether you're being ironic or not... I've used the standard victory conditions, first one to inflict 60% casualties is the winner, not sure what you mean about Gallic c-in-c getting to the edge of the map? Or was that a suggestion? And 'eye candy' is not ...

Re: regarding Eylau1807 by edward 77

Hi, Ed's pretty well answered this clearly but from my point of view I think, Bussy you're confusing muskets with the integral guns attached to each brigade. As Ed says, normally in P&S scenarios the artllery is a shown as individual units which, when moving, have a limber unit attached. Because P&S...

Unit visibility in BUAs?

I know that Built Up Areas don't feature heavily in Ancient battles, but this can't be right: I'm working on a scenario where the Gallic Warbands start in a BUA but, in the SP version at least, all the units in there are visible on the Roman turn 1. They disappear (unless they leave the village) at ...

I don't imagine that Slitherine would mind if I shared one tiny modded folder with you. Should you want to follow up, contact me on markterencedotstevensatntlworlddotcom. Re: The Wall

I don't know anything about Roman military architecture but, if you have Pike & Shot, you can mod the Objects folder to produce more Ancient-looking fortifications - this example is probably a bit over-elaborate but illustrates the point.
