Re: Future of Field of Glory II

Some miniature based rulesets have an interesting approach in avoiding "formations", just leaving them "behind the curtains", i am thinking about Blucher by Sam mustafa

Re: Future of Field of Glory II

Talking about Napoleonic games i have to say: worked at many, if not quite all, other napoleonic games out there (mostly heavy grognard based ones.... i won't quote titles here); in my opinion FOG2 campaign engine will be excellent to create a career feeling in every napoleonic army, starting from l...

Re: Field of Glory II Army Lists in Alphabetical Order

My wish is to have all the army list with an average of 2 new "books" every year (so a sort of 6 months per book) .... i dream of oath of fealty to roll the normans and the communal italians, but i would love to have a future "complete set" for field of glory. I have so little space and so little ti...

Re: Question on rules: residual shooting phase

Searry wrote:Ammo rules? Could you elaborate.
if i remember units attacks at full ammo for a given number of turns, maybe 5?, then they are considered depleting ammo, thus they can attack but they are not so good as at first strikes

Re: Campaign Game

Just saw the Dastactics videos on youtube about gallic vs roman sandbox campaign, i really like the choices from battle to battle, it is simple yet it gives a real narrative feeling. Excellent :D

Question on rules: residual shooting phase

Considering skirmishers and eventually large units of archers (maybe on storm of arrows ... for the future... army list), considering that in P&S and SJ there is the "residual shooting phase" that is relevant for shooting units deploy; that is my question: is there a residual shooting phase even on ...

Re: Campaign Game

Yes i agree with you from a tabletop perspective, but on tabletop you might build up an army from an army list considering battle terrain, in DAG, while i loved the "army list pick feeling" like from the army list book i was a bit unaware about the terrain (except for the eventually choosing between...

Re: Campaign Game

Yes for my crossed experience FOG and P&S/SJ i can say that the system is different and i do believe that the FOG 2 skirmish system is better, units selection is easy and fast, DAG was ok but FOG2 skirmish is really well done in selecting armies

Re: Campaign Game

Scutarii, i played old FOG and yes nobody used them ; however in P&S / SJ, in defence scenarios (even the skirmish ones) defensive works are used and they are of good use.

Re: Florence: tips on things to see?

I live in tuscany, yes stibbert it is a must see; anyway if you have time and a car you might try to locate the Anghiari field of battle near Arezzo. I would however suggest you to head to Lucca by train from Florence to see a full walled city in a typical renaissance architecture.

Re: New solutions for old problems

Concerning AI deployment (and AI plans during battle), from my P&S and SJ experience, i can confirm that the AI is really really sophisticated and it is one of the best, if not THE best, AI i found in game from the times of old old old SSI battles of napoleon for DOS

Question on sandbox campaign: progression from battle to battle will be dynamic (for instance I won an open battle and maybe next will be reinforce enemy or attack) or will it be random? Thanks in advance

Re: Roman Triarii

Regarding T.Livius i doubt Triarii were just older guys from Rome :D , indeed i think they were wealthier ones who can afford the proper "panoplia", considering that Triarii were almost like hoplites in battlefield tactics, so they should be more effective as defensive line vs cavalry for example.
